This one was at the back of the tent...the last of the F2 beans I had. Today the girls went into the final flowering pots, and I was able to get a better look. I think *finally* there's a purple pheno in the house! :woohoo:

Haven't seen Killa 'round in a good while, hope all is well.

So, any of y'all grown any of those beans out? Is this indeed what I'm supposed to be lookin' for? She sure looks promising. :)

Visited the girls and took a few pics yesterday.

The lil' Killa Purple F2 girl is starting to show some *nice* color, @ day 17. I hate trying to get a decent shot under the light, but they're not too horrible.

I retired my trusty 4 megapixel Olympus State-of-the-Art "antique" and am armed with a cheap lil' Canon Powershot 12 MP that takes *much* better pictures. Isn't technology grand? The Canon cost 20% of what I payed for the Olympus back then. :upsidedow

Did Killa ever attach a name to these beans? <shrug> I see there were a few suggestions that were tossed about.
For the time bein', I'll refer to it as just Killa Purple, or KP.

Anyway, here's the pics:

I've also attached a copy of a pic from Killas' "purple" thread, for comparison. (4)
(I have high hopes, lol) :p

Killas' pic is at 4.5 weeks. (4)

He mentions a "dark" and 'light" purple pheno. Whichever this is, I'm likin' it.
She's gonna be right-pretty. :)

Got a few more pics this week. :)
I've really got to try and get up there during lights-out, to better capture the color. One of these days...

This isn't really a log, but I'll toss out some background so ya'll know what's what.

Trying a soil mix of 50/50 FFOF and Coast of Maine Lobster Compost. I amend the soil with perlite as needed (seat-of-the-pants style). Mixed in also is the FF Peace of Mind 5-5-5 @ about 1tbsp/5 gallons.

Using the FF nutrients @ 3/4 strength in flowering. Vegged @ 1/2 strength following the FF schedule. With the local water, 3/4 stregth comes out to about 1100-1200 ppm.
The FF solubles are also being used, but I've learned to go easy on the "Beastie Bloomz". :glugglug:
Previously, I believe I've scorched the hell out of some strains by over-doing it. (at least, that's my theory) :( Using the BB @ 1/3 of the minimum on the chart, now.

KP is 3.5 weeks into flower. She stretched about 20" over the first couple weeks, and has kept up a slow creep, adding another 8" in the last 10 days. Looks like she's settlin' down now, with the 3 main colas within a couple inches of each other @ 53"-55". Flowering under a single 1000 in a 4'x4' grow-tent. Running temps of 81°/70°.

That about covers it,...

On wit da show! :D

Approaching 4.5 weeks, she's startin' to fill-out a bit.
I think Killa ran these to about 8.5-9 weeks, so she still has a bit to go. Right around X-mas/New Years, me thinks. :)

Managed to squeeze off a couple shots *just* as the dark period ended.

Prettiest girl in the tent... :food10:

Damn those purps be looken dank as hell! Keep up the great work! My first grow will be over in the morning. So its time to get 2 new clones/seeds to keep the rotation goin. I want to grow some purps this time and i was wondering what strains i should keep a look out for that grow like this. Alot of the purple strains i have smoked/seen at the dispensary are no where near as purple as this jaw dropping strain you got here. Basically i want a strain that is going to be as close as possible to 100% purple nug none of that half green half purple shit.

P.S. i got the A/C on lock so i should have no problem getting the temp down to make the purple come out in the strain.:rastasmoke:

I know what you mean, this is the prettiest I've ever laid eyes on. In person, she is a gorgeous variation of lavender hues. I consider myself pretty fortunate to have lucked into it. All the info I have on this one can be gleaned from this thread:

http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/170048-killas-back-bigger-better-oh-yeah-purple.html

As far as other strains that are *this* vivid, without resorting to cold temps, I've had no luck. Most that I've seen are like you say, greenish/purple, like a dark Afghani strain.

Next run, I'm gonna give a look to some "Querkle" by TGA/Subcool. I hear there is at least one really nicely colored pheno.

Some that haven't worked out for me:
Ceres seeds "Purple"
Dutch Passion "Purple"

There are sooo many to try...
Wish I could be of more help.

Good luck, man!

I hear that! You could use these flowers as a centerpiece at the dinner table. :D

That would be Killa12345. He posted here quite a bit, in the past. Check out the link posted above for more info.

Thanks DT! I'm really likin' it. I usually take 2-3 cuts off a girl in flower to keep it going. I took 8 of off this one, wasn't taking any chances on losing her. :o I think I would cry!

I'm gonna paint a couple nugs of all the girls in the tent with some stored PWx(PKxPR) pollen. The male donors showed some strong color! We'll see what we get. :D

unbelievable looking buds:thumbsup:

Purple really stands out in the crowds. I remember chatting with you from my very first indoor grow. My new ones just showed their sex. My biggest, turned male, but the other three i have turned female:)

Nothing like what you got in your hands thought. Beautiful BEAUTIFUL looking girls.

cartman shoot me a Email address or something and ill send you some beans of my purps, ide like to spread the genetics around unless i unexpectedly stop growing.

i have a feeling you wont be dissapointed.

those pictures are from 4 different grows, so i know youll get good purlpling regardless of temps. In the last picture zoom in and look at some of the trichome stalks, theyre totally purple. It makes it hard to check trichome colors when on some of the nugs.

Is pic 1 your avatar? That's some nice "nuggage". :)

What strain is this? Something you blended yourself?
I could see the trichs crossing the pistils in that pic, very cool.

hey cartman, how do you store your pollen?

<shrug> It's kinda hit-or-miss, as I haven't really stored any for long periods of time. The longest I've kept any, so far, is around 6 months. I think the most important thing is to keep it cool and dry.

I've been collecting and letting it dry out on parchment paper, then funneling into a little 1" square plastic baggie. Then I put the little baggie inside of a larger baggie filled with uncooked rice, then it sits in the vegetable crisper in the fridge 'til whenever. So far, so good. :)

I neglected to date the PWx(PKxPR) pollen, but I think it may be a little past 6 months. I'll know soon enough, if it's still good. ;)

Pollen will last forever if stored properly. The important bit is to dry the pollen before storing. Fresh pollen will only last a day or two before it is useless. It can last quite a bit longer if refrigerated.

Collect the pollen in a glass jar or baggie. Add a silica drying pouch, you know, those keep fresh pouches that come with anything that needs to remain dry, like vitamins. Close the lid. It will dry out in a few hours depending on the quantity. Once dry, put it in a storage container (baggie will do) and put it in the freezer. It will keep for years and years.

Just past the week 5 mark, the KP is still looking good.
The plant continues with a slow creep toward the light. The tallest cola is ~6" from the cool-tube, she's starting to pack on enough weight to bow the stem a bit, so I doubt she'll get too much closer. No issues with any burning at that distance, the fans move the colas around a good bit, even the closest pistils remain moist and supple.

I was going to brush some pollen on this one, but since I've got the clones to play with, I'll hold off and make seeds with one of them. I want to make sure the seeds get plenty of time to mature, and I really don't know how much longer she'll go. :weedpoke:

Pics 2 & 3 is PK with her pale cousin, PWx(PKxPR). She showed no color at all, but is a decent producer, so she's stuck around for a couple grows. I imagine the purple pheno lurks within, so she will get a dusting of the pollen too, when the time comes. ;)

Anyway, hoping the Holiday treated ya right!

Here's a few pics from week 5. It's not hard to spot the colorful girl in the tent nowadays. :stoned:

It looks good real good, i wanted some purps but in my opinion its really just color. The real purple strains were good bud but it wasnt no where near as good as some kush. I think purple urkal, Granddaddy, and purple kush are better even tho they are less purple.

your doing a great job tho and those nugs look thick, good job

Just about 6 weeks, and she's putting on weight.

Last visit,... opened up the tent and only saw 2 tops, instead of three. :wtf: Found the awol branch laying across some of the shorter tent-mates. Had to tie 'em up, lucky it didn't snap.

Man-handling the wire through the tops gave off a dank, red wine kind of odor. <shrug> I'm not the best at describing what I smell, but I liked it. :D
Really looking forward to seeing what she tastes like.
She's decently frosty, though it will take a real close manicure to keep it up to snuff. Still a couple/few weeks to go, though!

Here's a few horrendous pics, under the light. And a decent one, too. :p

Yeah, the color is all about appearance. It's just sooo esthetically appealing. I'm a sucker for a pretty face. :D
There are some interesting flavors to savor, too!

I do think this X should be pretty good, though. The Purple Kush genetics are in there. I'm not too familiar with the "PR" in this cross... we'll see.

Closing in on 7 weeks. (46 days)
She's still plumpin' up the blooms.
Got a few more pics without the HPS blazin'.
Love the variation in color. :)

*Merry Christmas*

I reckon it's time to wrap this one up.

Been dang'd busy, as I'm sure most of ya'll have. Apologies for being a slacker. ;)

Took her down @ 8 weeks on-the-nose. (56 days flowered)
Amber trichs were few, certainly less than 5%, probably half that.
But, I saw some irregular growth starting to appear, and didn't really want to chance missing a "nanner" on her and spoil the rest of the girls in residence. Other logs have mentioned the tendency for this happening, and it normally happens so late in flower that it isn't an issue. I have plants at various stages in the same flowering tent, so can't risk taking her any further. I'd go another week otherwise. :( She'll be back for a return appearance.

Some pics of the last days...

EvilCartman
12-25-2010, 03:37 PM
The three larger colas filled-out pretty well. Not rock-solid, but decently dense buds. The weight of the blooms was pretty good, they frosted up better than I normally see on a purple strain. I got no complaints about the color. :)

Some pics from chop, rough trim.

EvilCartman
12-25-2010, 04:02 PM
After a 5-day dry, trim 'em down a bit, and into a jar.

Got it all into one good-size jar. Weight going in was a hair over 3.25 Oz.
After the cure, I'll trim-out some of the larger stems that I leave for a little more moisture retention. So realistically, she'll give up I'd say about 2.75 Oz.
Not the biggest producer, but she did spend most of her life in the corner of the tent. This was with a 30 day veg, from seed.

That's all for now folks!

Into the jar pics...

:)

*Merry Christmas*
