View Full Version : Auto-flower help for the clueless?

The clueless being me. :)

First off, I've never touched an AF bean before, but have a couple freebies on hand. I'm under my plant-count, so what the heck, I'll give 'em a go!

Since they aren't photo-period sensitive, I reckon the more hours of light the better, right?

I don't really have a spot to dedicate to them, but I can either toss them into a veg space (18 hrs under a 400 MH), or into the flower space (12 hrs under 1000 HPS).

Since this is more of an experiment for me, is there much to be gained by bouncing the lil' suckers around?
By that, I mean giving them 12 hrs. under the HPS and then putting them under the MH for the remaining 6 hrs? (give or take a few minutes) ;)

I know,... sounds sketchy, but my schedule would allow me to do this. :D

I'm assuming that they will remain a manageable size, hopefully finish-up in a 3 gallon pot. (I'm a dirt-farmer, btw)

The beans on hand are:
Dinafem: Haze (fem)
Dinafem: Roadrunner (fem)

Like I said, I'm pretty clueless. :o Just looking for a bit guidance, opinions, or what have you.

Are these particular strains even worth bothering with? Or, are they best used as bird-seed? :D

AFs run best under 20/4.

Thanks, 'shake! :)

Having given it some thought, maybe I'll just set the timer in the veg space to 20/4.

Moving the AFs back and forth is probably a bad idea. I'd hate myself if I stressed 'em out and ruined my stable girls in the flowering tent, with an errant nanner from one of the AF thingies! Better to just flower them under the MH than flirt with disaster. :error:

Road runner with finish in 8-9 weeks . low smell sticky and thick. Haze auto. well i was disappointed, but i might have had a bad one. low production and just mid-level product at finish. but good enough. The smell makes up for it. 20/4 is ideal. but they will be a bit smaller at 18/6. here is a roadrunner at 8 weeks

Thanks bunches! Appreciate all the help I can get.

I just saw that pic in another thread you replied to, looks pretty darn good!

Was wondering... noticed in that thread that there is a Roadrunner #1 and a #2. I'm unsure which I have, the package just said "Roadrunner". Do you know if there's much difference between them?

Bummer on the "haze", but this will be a learning experience, and the bean was free, so it's all good to me.

Noticed in another thread where some guy posted that an "Iranian autoflower" would give...(brace yourself)... "upwards of 500 grams"!
That's gotta be a typo,..right? :postexcuseme: Maybe he's weighing the whole pot, dirt and all?:S2:

you most likely have the original roadrunner. Stay optimistic about the haze. I have read some on the irian auto's. just not sold on them yet to try. Also i think they take as long as a average indica would flower. or somthing.

Thanks, again!

Will do. I try to be a "glass half-full" kinda guy.

Ah, I see. That *would* explain things.

It's a pity there isn't an AF section here. :(

Tryin' to follow some decent starting threads over at the other site can be frustrating. Many degrade into flame-fests.

The more I read, the more interesting some of these AFs sound.

Whats up?

The af's are fun to try something new... but thats about it. Also 3g pots are way too big. I used those small 1.5L pots. At least I think thats how much they hold.

I was curious about the smoke on those haze sativa autos. 500grams is impossible... These plants are tiny and you should expect 1/2 - 1oz per plant.

I have two logs with autos in my sig if you want to check them out.

since i upgraded to deep 3 gallon containers. my yields have grown. But depends on breed. my favorite's desire lots of root space to finish thick and at an ounce + per plant. You can stack 20 plants in a 2x7 area. when done in a proper rotation your fun can provide a great product for you and your fellow patients on a regular basis..

Yes i suppose it depends on the strain. I had a white dwarf in a 1.5L pot that did give a little bit over an oz. I wouldnt use 3g of soil for an ounce though... when I could use the same 3g with a regular strain and get 2oz or more from the same amount of soil.

Thanks. Probably best to watch the plants and play it by ear then. They'll have to show that they're worthy of the 3 gal. :D I'll keep an eye on what the roots are doin'.

Thanks for the input.

I'll have to check out those logs. :greenthumb:
