So far I'm impressed with the Sun System Sunblaze 46 4 foot T5. I've noticed an inch and a half growth already in less then 48 hours. I have the light about 2 in above the tallest plant and angled toward the smallest. There is great potential in these systems. They're inexpensive, use less the $20.00 a month in electricity 24/7 in veg, and fit great in a two foot deep closet. I could daisy chain another one and utilize the 6' whole close with a 24" 4 lamp model. Would be excellent with Prop 19's 5x5 limits for starters.
Here are my test ladies who are from clones taken from outdoor plants and already posted on the outdoor growing thread. You can't see the change yet, but I'll post weekly on their progress. And, they may have a couple more newbies started from older seed soon. :D

Hi Gypski,
Right on!
I like t-5 panels too! I have 6 now. This is all I use in veg and I've added 2 - 8 x 4' with red tubes to the flower room as well. All but 1 of mine are Hydro Farm and I have 1 Sun Systems in the flower room.
In the flower room, the sun systems that seems brighter than the hydrofarm panels. The big difference is the the sun systems panel is only 17.5" wide, where the hydrofarm are a full 24" on the 8 tube x 4' models.
As far as vegging success, I grow plants to 3-4' high in #5 procan pots under my T-5s. In flower, I have 2 x 1k hps augmented with the 2 t-5 panels. Adding the t-5's gave me another 800+ watts without adding too much heat.. I love it.
Peace,
Farmer Rich

Check out the quantum badboy 16 bulb.
I hear they are comming out with 114 watt bulbs too...

When I go to flower these girls, I'm gonna experiment with alternating white/red and see how it goes or a 4/2 red/white. I don't want to give up a lot of lumens. And I like experimenting and tweaking. :smokin:

I have seen amazing results in controlled experiments with dual arc bulbs,
the ones that are both a 600hps and 400mh in one bulb.
I thought they would not compare to a straight 1000hps due to less penetration and lumen output, as a 1000w hps is like 145,000 lumens, and the dual arcs are less lumens, I wanna say something like 112,000 lumens, but I could be wrong on that number.
But every plant grown with dual arcs was bigger than the ones grown under hps, just some food for thought.

it just goes to show that plants use the entire spectrum range and that ALL lights (including current LEDs) are not maximized for plants. i think that a full spectrum LED with variable resistors for each spectrum is the way to go personally!

Well, one week, and the results are in so far, I'm still impressed. And you can tell by the photos. the first was taken 5 days before they went under the T5, and the second is after one week. I like it. The growth is dense and the small grow tips that you can't see are breaking out all over the place. There will be no need to it. I'm most impressed with the shorter on and how its filling out.

Here is the clone that is on the far right in the first photo. this little girl started out as a normal grow tip with the normal branching. After being started under a 23 watt CFL, and now under the T5 for a week, vertical height was only about an inch, but the fullness is what's impressing me. And, its only about 2" tall right now. Hopefully without any major disturbances, this little baby could be a good producer. :D

Check out what you can do under T-5's.. these plants are about 90 days of vegging and about 4' in height. They'll be going to the flower room in about 1.5 weeks with the tallest being topped 1 more time.
Gypski, when you go to flower are you going to use the same space? If so, all you'll have to do is swap the blue veg tubes for red flower ones. You should have great results.
In my flower room, I augment my to 1K hps with 2 8 x 4' t-5 panels.. I only use red tubes. The last unit I installed had a mix, and frankly I didn't think it was as bright, though I didn't measure it. Also included is the results flowering with both light systems.

Yes, I plan on doing the complete cycle under the same environment. That way, those wondering if they can do it will see it can be done. To me, its just an experiment that hopefully can be reproduced by others with minimal effort and gain a decent amount of medicine. Your results are impressive too.

Well, it been one month, and here is what the girls look like today. They have grown at the rate of approximately 2 1/2 inches a week! :D I'm satisfied with how they are doing. The first photo is today, and the second one month ago.
