"General dehumidifier water is considered a rather clean kind of greywater: not suitable for drinking, but acceptable for watering plants, though not garden vegetables[2] The concerns are:[2]

* the water may contain trace metal from the solder, most significantly lead (which is quite damaging), but also copper, aluminium, and zinc;
* various pathogens accumulate in the water, particularly due to its stagnancy, including fungal spores; unlike in distilled water, the water is not boiled, which would kill pathogens (including bacteria);"

so i would skip it.

The â??Urban Growerâ?� featured this method in one of his You-Tube videos. Seemed like a great idea for recycling but if the water can be toxic, looks like Iâ??m going to have to find another way to channel the runoff. Iâ??m not really concerned with the water being stagnant because my reservoir is constantly flowing and aerating from my Aeroflo pump and chiller pump.

I used mine for awhile to see what would happen and save money. It made up about 20% of the water used. At first it was ok. I kept a check on the ppm's which stayed at 0 ppm's. Then about 3 or 4 months down the line we started getting the slime snot on the root. Did everything we could for root rot. No go. Then we found Physan20 and cleaned up a bad cyano-bacteria mess. Only place I can imagine it came from is like headshake said from the pathogens from not being boiled.

If I had to do it again and needed to save I would boil the water first. I would drink it after it's boiled. By the time you spend the money to boil it I just went ahead and got a good R/O filter.

After you run your dehumidifier for months look at the tank or run off. Kind of slimey. Keep it clean so it doesn't jump to your rez. LOL.
