I am running an Aeroflo with a 40 gal res. My air temp is at 83deg my co2 is at 1450ppm humidity is at 60% I am in my 2nd week of veg. My exhaust is on a thermostat set to purge at 85deg. I am using a small chiller and my water temp is at 76deg. Is my water too warm and how can I bring it down? If I lower my room temp the water temp also goes down in proportion. My only problem with that is if I lower the exhaust temp I lose too much co2. Any suggestions?

You want to be <= 68 degrees in your res. Any chance you can sit the res on a concrete floor, this will help reduce the heat. I'd set your exhaust temp thermostat to start venting at 72. Also, why are you running CO2 in veg?

I already have the res on the floor. Someone suggested I use frozen 2 liter jugs in the res to bring down the temp. CO2 at 1500ppms promotes photosynthisis in all stages of growth and allows you to maintain higher air temps.

I did aero/nft for over a year and struggled with water temps in the summer.. Problem you'll get is root rot, and believe me, when an aero system goes south, it can happen fast. Some frozen 2L jugs will help, but it's a maintenance pain.. If you can, try to get your space to the upper 70s with the lights on. Everything will be happier.

One other thought on the res.. how about replacing your chiller with a larger unit? Pricey, but your problem would be solved. Make sure to match the pump properly too.

Last.. I wouldn't risk your root zone growth over having higher temps to promote vegetative growth.. My 2 cents. :)

Good luck!
