When and IF 2 STOP topping a plant??

I have this question..

Is it ok to top your plant as much as you want (obviously not over stressing it, and giving it healing time in-between toppings) until flowering time?

I know topping, while your flowering, is not a good move, but as long as your in the vegetation stage it should be ok to top as much as you want right?

I heard topping an un-feminized seed too much could result in hermaphridite or male charactorists such as beans and junk.

----anyone with experience on excessive topping with with good/bad harvest outcomes, please let me know what happened with your experience and I'm greatful on any input----

yes, you can top a plant as much as you want while in vegetative growth. you want to stop 7-10 days prior to flipping to 12/12. i top the piss out of my plants (the strains that like it).

a plant can go hermie from being stressed via many factors, but not while it's in veg. a lot of the strains on the market are going to hermie a bit anyhow. it just seems to be the way that it is.

Tho it is not wise to top in flower, it can be done very early and it will take an additional week or two to finish. It could also hermie. I know this because I have tried topping in flower and/or had an accident that topped the plant. It does not increase the amount of product at all.

sure, you could top a plant in flower, but why? during the first 40% of the time in flower a plant goes through "the stretch" before spending the last 60% of it's lifetime fattening up, trying to catch pollen, it's only purpose on the planet. it takes time for the growth hormone auxin to be re-distributed to the auxiliary bud sites. if you top in flower, even during the first two weeks not only are you decreasing your yield, but like WW said, you can hermie your plant not to mention it will take longer to finish.

i like to teach proper methods. thanks for trying to correct me though.

my answer to everything is not pH. but UNTIL the poster has a grasp on his/her pH than everything else is IRRELEVANT. any advice given is considered bad. because all the good advice in the world won't help you if your pH isn't inline. i've never told someone who's pH was KNOWN to be in the acceptable range that their pH was the issue. there is a reason things are done a certain way around here, or in troubleshooting in general. there are steps that MUST be followed. and those steps were put into order by EXPERIENCE, and their RELEVANCE. any doucebag can spout out, magnesium deficiency, or calcium deficiency or whatnot, but there is an UNDERLYING CAUSE to the deficiency. plants just don't up and go deficient because they are bored or want to fuck with you.

Is everyone chatting/picture posting, using HPS lights? if so, i'm just gonna make my 45 minute drive to pick one up. Found a 150 HPS light at a store that should be perfect for my growing area. Then I could at least get all the cords outta the way:)


Any of you use CFL's constantly for your grows? Found some that put out around 2,300-2,700 lumens a piece. Cant remember exactly but its somewhere in that range, I know not anywhere near a 150 HPS putting around 60,000 lumens. Damn, think I just answered my own question. Screw it, I'm getting one....

there you have it. i run 2x 600W HPS for bloom, and LED bar (from Str8outaWeed) and 2x 2 bulb t-5's for veg.

know i got this key board fixed, i just cut down that g13 and i put a pic of it on here, but i use a 400w mh in the grow and 1000mh and a t5 with 6 54w but i got 12 knowin bud i do have a 1000 hps but i need a igniter for it just have not had the time or money to go get i would like to switch one of my 1000 mh for it, but just waiting. will soon but HEADSHRINK that lady you had had to be just about done toO? what kind was she? she looks tasty!!!!:jointsmile:
