As published in the September 2009 issue of the Journal of Experimental Botany, Researchers from the College of Biological Science of the University of Minnesota have identified the genes in the Cannabis plant that produce tetra-hydro-cannabinol (THC), claiming in a press release that it is ??a first step toward engineering a drug-free Cannabis plant?. George Weiblen, an associate professor of plant biology and a co-author of the study, said ??Cannabis genetics can contribute to better agriculture, medicine, and drug enforcement?.
They want control stock your seeds and clones pass them on to future generations
At a 1997 Vancouver Hemp conference, Watson spoke of his research. His main focus was to stop growers from cloning nor being able to create any seeds from strains being bred in Amsterdam. The funding for this research came partially from the Dutch Government, the rest from the DEA. Watson had been busted for growing in Santa Cruz California on March-20-1985 and resurfaced in Amsterdam to start his seed company Cultivator??s Choice. DEA supported the Watsons application for a license to grow for research in Holland, even though they should have been extraditing him back to Cali for his 1985 Santa Cruz grow bust! DEA endorsement was so strong that he was the first to be granted a permit in Holland when several universities and domestic research groups with PHD??s and legitimate reasons for research were denied! The Dutch government even supplied three greenhouses for Watson to do his heinous experiments, while normal Dutch growers lost all of their equipment and had to serve murder-like sentences at that time! Dutch seed companies have become the Monsanto of the cannabis seed industry, and hope to make us all seed junkies at $20 a seed.!?

You don't actually believe that shit do you???? So what if they develop a THC free strain, they will never wipe out the full flavor cannabis. Vote yes and don't believe the bullshit horror stories. You don't have hair on your palms do you? :S2:

If California??s Control Cannabis Proposition does not pass this November, Monsanto??s funding will undoubtedly legalize Cannabis for corporate exploitation sometime in the near future. This will Inundate the medicinal and industrial Cannabis market with artificially engineered and patented Cannabis strains from the only DEA permitted sources available: GW Pharma in partnership with Bayer Inc. and HortaPharm, Kenex corporation, and the University of Mississippi??s Marijuana program, all of which appear to be influenced heavily by the GMO seed industry.
Since the only licit sources of Cannabis are derived from interests in connection with the bio-tech industry, this will force anybody who wishes to grow natural non-patented and non-engineered Cannabis strains to attain their seeds from ??illicit?? sources.
Other then exposing the imminent threat that Cannabis legalization organizations are posing to natural Cannabis strains in collusion with trans-national GMO seed companies, our responsibility towards this sacred plant compels us to attain natural variety Cannabis seeds and protect them from genetic contamination. Just like the Mayans have learned with Maize, artificial genetic contamination is causing the extinction of natural plant varieties around the planet:
I believe the Federal Government wants control of MJ and until they can find a way MJ will remain illegal on a Federal level
Once they think they have control of it, MJ will be legal on a Ferderal level:hippy:
so if the voters vote yes and give themselves the right to legally grow their own this will allow monsanto to take over everything? :wtf: I'm just not following the logic there ... prolly cause there is none. :rastasmoke:

GW Pharma and HortaPharm have stated their intent to engineer Cannabis strains similar to Monsanto??s terminator seed technology. Their strains seem to be artificially manipulated to produce "one-off sterile females" which prevents reproduction of harvest-able seeds they are also non clonable.
These are the kinds of strains that are waiting to be controlled, regulated, licensed and taxed after the potential passage of proposition 19 in California and many similar initiatives across the United States being funded directly by Monsanto shareholders:hippy:
decriminaliztion = power to the people, use, grow, sell, trade, barter, in a free, unrestricted and no tax market
legalization = govt. and big business control, the public no longer has a voice in price, use, and dominion

yeah and the cannibus cup is going to to have non potent strains lol,get real people thc is here to stay no matter what.its very easy to buy seeds on the internet...and secondly im sure just about every person who smoked weed before has seeds that are normal, grow them.no big corporations are going to get involved, and if they did and they sold non potent marijuana with no thc or medical use i dont think anyone will buy it and they will be out of buisness before they even start....you KIDS yes i say kids because you are probably between 14-17 who think of this crap, and if you are an adult i feel very sorry for your education and knowledge...marijuana grows wild..go ahead and change your vote your only hurting yourself...

Actually Bro I have been getting seeds from places like The Cali Connection from OG Raskel and Swerve that have gone into auto flower after the first generation of cloning
Seeds from Attitude seed bank from Reserva Pervada NON Clonable Strains took 10 starts and non made it after 5 weeks in a dome with rapid rooters under 25 watts
The seeds are already amoung us:hippy:

Care to mention what strains your speaking of? :wtf:
Personally, I've taken cuttings off of five of their strains, without failure.
None have taken longer than a week to 10 days to pop roots, and I take my cuts *well* into flower, anywhere from 2-5 weeks in.

well colonugs maybe your just not good at growing?
cali connection just came out into the scene with seeds that i know of so maybe what they are doing is wrong.!
reserva privada ive personally grown there strains and cloned them very easily, and it was my 1st time cloning.!
but maybe you should contact them and ask them personally why they have genectically enginered their strains to be unuseful for you...i think they will laugh for a few hours and probably not respond your email!

The Strain was OG
Thanks for the timely answer. I'm having no problems with either of the OG variants from Reserva Privada. The seeds were acquired roughly 6-9 months ago and clone quite easily. Also have had good success with the X18 Pakistani, Kandy Kush and Tora Bora.
Cali Connection has been around for a few years now bros...
I have no experience with their gear, my Q was with regard to the Reserva Privada gear. Thanks again.

Bottom line with the argument here is Monsanto or Monsanto-like companies are going to take over cannabis and control all the cannabis strains. I've never heard such a false, bullshit argument in my life. That will never, ever happen. Not in a million lifetimes. :S2: Vote yes and get the snowball rolling down the mountain. :D

They have already implemented this scenario with corn and soybeans and financially extorted farmers that wouldn't go along with their GMO patented products, it's scary and its coming for the marijuana industry. It won't be against the law to grow but you may be growing undercover so Monsanto's army of lawyers don't come after you for patent infringement.

According to the perps of this insane paranoid argument its already happening, so what is voting no on 19 going to do to stop Monsanto!

I don't know about monsanto and cannabis, but those stories of farmers losing everything from seed blowing into their farms is way messed, I remember hearing Percys story couple years ago. Very sad

Doesn't matter if 19 passes or not, if there is a profit to be made the biotech giants will try to control the product and therefore the seed. They are doing this now across the globe, buying up all the seed banks and forcing farmers to use their genetically modified seeds. Its not paranoia it is a rationalization based on the current practices of company's like Monsanto. But this probably belongs in another thread.

Serious growers are like cannabis Noah's Arks. A male and female of each strain because they bred and produced seeds and didn't totally waste time feminizing everything. Monsanto has screwed farmers and the courts have wrongly backed Monsanto's invasive frankenstrains against the farmers. But, with cannabis, its kinda like Texas....Its a whole different world!!! :S2:

They'll never have total control, and their bullshit lawsuits are pissing off more and more people all the time.
Time to break their backs. Voting yes is a small part of it.
