Hey guys!

New to the forum and have been reading and reading post after post. I have also read Greg Green's "The Cannabis Grow Bible 2nd Edition" and I am currently reading Jeff Mowta's "Marijuana New School Indoor Cultivation". I am planning on doing an indoor hydroponics grow but I am unsure of a few things before I finish my list of materials needed.

I want to use C.A.P's Ebb and Grow (12) Site System with hydroton for the medium. This is where I start to question what I have selected for lights. I want to use a 1000 Watt Sunmaster Warm Deluxe MH light for veg and a 1000 watt Hortilux Super HPS TM EN for flowering.

With the buckets being in an arrangement of (4) rows of (3) buckets, I was going to use a 1K watt bulb for 6 plants. That would be (4) MH and (4) HPS lights, (2) for each 12 site system. I will have two rooms, one for veg and one for flowering with painted walls for a reflective surface. I am not sure if I am going overkill on the lights. I know that lumens matter but I am worried about burning my plants with the bulbs. I know that I want to use a Cool Tube reflector to keep the heat down in my rooms. My budget is unlimited so I am looking for input here. Am I going overboard with my lights? Is there a better solution, perhaps using 600 Watt bulbs? Any input is much appreciated!

Thanks,

Hazed

1000 watt lights are great....as long as you have PLENTY of ceiling height; to raise or lower the lights as needed.

Even with a cool tube; you can be too close or too far away...
...no matter what the wattage is

You said it Pimp! 1000 watters are GREAT! I have found in the past, that if you use 600 watters. Your able to harvest pretty close to what a 1000 will do. They use them all over Holland. Said to be the choice wattage. I have since upgraded to a 1000 watter. With the right amount of height away from the plants will help them not to get so tall, but keep the nodes closer together.

Ga....

Thanks for the replies Dutch and Grown! I won't have an issue with ceiling height so it looks like this setup should work! Now the next question. How do keep your electric bill down with this setup? Do some growers use generators?

running a 1000W is nothing crazy. it's no different that if you plugged in a gaming pc or what not. it's one kilowatt an hour x how many hours light is on x days in the month = total cost to run your light.

so if you pay $0.10 per KW/hour your bill would go up $39.60 (assuming your flowrering in a 30 day month).

keep in mind though that you will also need an exhaust fan as well.
