gee i can believe it.The Sherrif just said on TV....''if you want to sit in your house and smoke a joint go ahead ..just leave the rest of us alone''almost the exact words. The US Atorney General not backing prop 19 but they had a police veteran on and he said he had neverever arested anyone for a federal offence..It will be interesting to see how it all works out.Me myself seeing all the other states that like pot i can't see how the Feds can stop it.They will have to change the drug laws.

Yep. 19 is the first step in the war for blanket legalization. Why should we stay at home? When's the last time you heard of someone getting stoned and going off on a deadly crime spree? LOL!:rastasmoke:

I think he said if it passes19, he won't be raiding peoples homes for personal use.
What he actually said was:
??If you have a need for an ounce or less ? then use your marijuana, but use it privately,? he said. ??If you want to do a joint in your house, do it. Leave the rest of us alone.?
Baca said personal users smoking in their homes were already a non-priority for police agencies, including his own. His department??s target, he said, are the dealers.

So yeah, he's pretty much saying they won't be raiding private homes over a few pot plants.
In fact, on the face of the evidence, the LASD won't be doing much of anything except busting medical marijuana dispensaries.
Good luck with that whole prohibition thing, Sheriff.

ok thanks for the exact wording :wtf:
I think about 99% of all cannabis arrest are by state and local police enforcing state and local laws, so Prop 19 will end all that. federal enforcement of cannabis laws seems, to me, to be VERY political. Shrub needed to protect cannabis prohibition and seemed to get more support from his extreme supporters the harsher he would get. In contrast, Barry, even tho he still has a mission from the prohib mafia to protect cannabis prohibition, his political career isn't dependent on like Shrubs was. :twocents:
could be interesting. this is way that national policy is made in our united States, I think the President will repect the Cali voters if they approve Prop 19. He needs Cali's voters, and all cannabis consumers vote, even more than he needs to keep the prohib mafia in business.
That is my guess anyways, time will tell I guess.

I didn't mean to come across as negative about your post. I was laughing at Baca because it's even worse than you portrayed it. He's trying to come across as all "we gonna bust yo ass, muthah-f'er..." when in reality he and his deputies aren't doing squat about private pot use. And haven't for years.
Why go through the charade, Sheriff?

Why go through the charade, Sheriff?
Because he has to appeal to the NO voters. Being for legalization is political suicide. There are lots of old folks, religious nuts, and soccer moms out there who still buy the Reefer Madness depiction of marihuana. They must be appeased.
When I canvass in support of the prop, most people around here who are against it are churchgoers, moms and old ladies. Others say they don't smoke it, as if that was reason enough to vote no. Most people are either for it, or are undecided, but politely take a flyer.
We're working hardest on college campuses. College-age kids will pass it if they turn out.
