I live on the west coast now and the humidity is very low compared to the eastcoast where i started my growing adventures. That being said i'm having some issues with my clones rooting. I'm not even getting 50% success rate. Ive used both the gel and the powder, ive even gone as far as dipping in gel and then dipping in powder. Used RW, RR, still same outcome. Just using a dome, nothings changed except the results. SO! heres where i need the help... First off any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I bought a heating pad hoping that may help, and its def brought the temps of the medium up to an acceptable range but the problem is the heating pad has a automatic shut off. I'm not an electrical buff so thought id ask the experts. I can simply cut the controller out of the middle of the cord and just reattach the cords, but i was hoping someone could direct me on how to bypass or remove the automatic shutoff. That even possible? Any help is greatly appreciated...

Also fyi: temps are a little low at 77-84ish and the humidity is as well at around 50%(outside the dome) Inside its in the 80s%.. thanks so much!

I've been growing for 7 years, and just last year, I had problems with cloning like I never had before. You never said what they look like when you lose them. When I had my problems, the stems would just collapse or bend over to the point where they die. I finally put a humidity gauge inside the dome and it showed 99%, that's too much. I think 80% is just fine, and don't forget that they can suffocate if the seal is too good around the dome. In other words you need to let some air in there, which was another mistake I made. The dome only needs to be there about 2 days. Haven't had any problems since I changed those factors. Do not put any root accelerators or anything in the water....which should be ph'd at around 5.5

Good luck

Thanks Keylime! Thats the funny thing.. THey look beautiful for two weeks, just never root. They honestly look damn near as good as the day they go in..standing tall and everything. Totally confused about that one. Also i didn't konw they only need the dome for 2 days..ive always just used it the entire time and id get roots in 4 or 5 days. I always leave a little ventilation and i'll come in a few times a day and let them breathe for a few with dome off... I guess its just a little tweaking. I went in today and some more popped but its just not clockwork like im used to.

Thanks again! Any thoughts on the heating pad issue?

Oh yea, heating pad...

I have a thermostat on mine, and just set it at about 77F.
You can buy them for about $20
