I love stand-up comedy when I'm high. There's nothing like chilling with a bowl and some snacks and listening to jokes. So who do you think is funniest?

My top five would be:

Bill Hicks
Lewis Black
Dave Chappelle
George Carlin
Dana Carvey

Hey-

Not to be disrespectful but I never thought Hedberg was really that great.

Here's a REAL top 5.

(In no particular order)

Richard Pryor
Rodney Dangerfield
George Carlin
Eddie Murphy
Chris Rock

honorable mention:
Dave Chappelle (llamaman- he does have a couple stand-up DVDs and they are both great)
The Original Kings of Comedy
George Wallace
Henny Youngman
Martin Lawrence
Jeff Foxworthy
Dana Carvey
Steve Sweeney
Dennis Leary
Stephen Wright

And I know I have a Boston bias. So what. And don't try to tell me about Dane Cook, either... He's not that funny. Also I think Black comedians are hilarious because black jokes are great, especially when coming from a black dude. Umm Sam Kinnison wasn't that great either.

EDIT: Great thread, by the way.

ooohh.. I love stand up!

this is really in no order whatsoever:
Dave Chapelle
Ron White
Lewis Black
Russell Peters (if you're canadian, you might know him... Not that big yet, but fucking hilarious!)
Eddy Izzard
Eddy Murphy (in the good ol' days)
Chris Rock
Jerry Seinfeld

There are others, but I don't remember their names cause they're pretty small time still... If you enjoy stand-up, go support them at your local comedy club! Sure sometimes you get some guy who really sucks, but most of the time you'll have a blast, especially stoned... :D

Tommy Tiernan - Great standup, few decent parts, you may know him as the suicidal priest in 'Father Ted'

Dylan Moran - Another hysterical guy, co-writer and star of 'Black Books', he was also the shoplifter in the book store in 'Notting Hill'

Hector O'hEochagain - You'll either love him or want to smash his face in - I swing between the two, but he is amusing in a very manic way.

Yup, I missed that one, RIP.

I agree that the black comedians are the funniest, mostly because they aren't afraid to talk about race. And they don't sugar-coat shit.

IF BILL GATES WAS A REDNECK

If you hear . . . "Luke, I am your father... and your uncle..."

If you ever said the phrase, "May the force be with y'all."

Your Jedi robe is camouflage.

You have ever used your light saber to open a bottle of Bud Light.

At least one wing of your X-Wings is primer colored.

You can easily describe the taste of an Ewok.

You have ever had a land-speeder up on blocks in your yard.

The worst part of spending time on Dagobah is the dadgum skeeters.

Wookiees are offended by your B.O.

You have ever used the force to get yourself another beer so you didn't have to wait for a commercial.

You have ever used the force in conjunction with fishing or bowling.

You have ever had your R-2 unit use its self-defense electro-shock thingy to get the barbecue grill to light up.

You have a confederate flag painted on the hood of your land-speeder.

You ever fantasized about Princess Leia wearing Daisy Duke shorts.

You have the doors of your X-wing welded shut and you have to get in through the window.

Although you had to kill him, you kinda thought that Jabba the Hutt had a pretty good handle on how to treat his women.

You have a cousin who bears a strong resemblance to Chewbacca.

You suggested that they outfit the Millennium Falcon with redwood deck.

You were the only person drinking Jack Daniels during the cantina scene.

Your father has ever said to you, "Shoot, son come on over to the dark side...it'll be a hoot."

Yup, I missed that one, RIP.

I agree that the black comedians are the funniest, mostly because they aren't afraid to talk about race. And they don't sugar-coat shit.

It's not that the black comedians aren't afraid to talk about race, it's that white comedians CANNOT talk about race. Hispanic comedians do the same thing. A white guy would be shot if he was like "black people always be doin blah blah blah blah".

BTW, Donnie Darko is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.

Dylan Moran - good call, Lulu! I think he's coming over here soon
Jack Dee
Eddie Izzard
Bill Hicks
Andy Kaufman - like Nowhereman said, he was so odd he was funny
Robin Williams - one of the best and most natural stand up comedians ever.
Richard Pryor - same goes for him. Pure genius.

My favourite thing about Eddie Izzard is that his comedy is totally suited to stoners. I mean, I don't know if he smokes or not but I imagine he does or he has done, because his comedy is full-on stoner comedy.

As an example, halfway through his routine he got sidetracked and started making stuff up, totally random and crazy stuff, then stopped and said "people usually think im on drugs, but no, this is me normal.. when im on drugs I start saying things like 'insurance; thats a good idea.. pensions, yes...'" :D
