flushing.. HOW MUCH

i am anywhere from 5 to 10 days from harvest. last nite i did a flush on each plant . i poured 2 gallons of water through each planter.( i captured the run off and gave it to my roses.) is this the correct interpretation of this technique?

what size containers are you using? you usually want to use a ratio of 3:1 (water:pot size).
