Just picked up a 1/4 today at an MMC (not gonna call anyone out since I'm not 100% sure) and it looks like it has mold on it. There's a white fuzzy spot on one of the buds. I don't have a scope yet, so can't be totally sure. But if it was a brick of cheese I'd throw it out.

Do dispensarys take back moldy product or am I just out of luck? Say what you will about regulation, if it prevents these kind of things then I'd be for it. (Of course it won't, it will just create hassles and do nothing to ensure patient safety. Yay legislators.)

take it back. they should exchange or refund. if they say no, tell them to watch the forums!

you do need to be SURE though. is it PM or mold? was it damp? does it smell moldy?

do you have a half decent digital camera w/macro?

I wouldn't post anything bad about anyone without pictures.

mold can happen to anyone and they may not even know it. It's all about how they deal with fixing the situation.

I don't know what PM is. Definitely looks like mold, white hairs, kinda furry (and this is naked eye so we're not talking trichromes). I'll fiddle with my camera in the morning, see if it can get me a closer look. If not I'll just take it back and see if they have a scope.

Yeah, I'm not pissed about it, but I will be if they don't give a refund or exchange. These things happen. I might be more upset if I had respiratory or immune system problems, but I don't.

Take it back if there is any sign of molds, If the center is legit they will gladly refund and pull the rotten meds from their shelf. If you get any hassle just mention the name of the center here, and i'm sure they will get appropriate feedback.

regulation won't stop mold from happening. regulators will never be astute enough to inspect a shop and find the mold. They are going to be counting grams and checking paperwork and making sure the state gets theirs. There will be some sort of quality check somewhere down the line, but it'll be useless.

If they have to submit to testing, people will be submitting samples they are sure about. It's easy to know if a gram or 2 is mold free or not - not so easy for 10 pounds divided up into 50 jars in a display case.

If it's mold, just a little too much moisture in a jar and you can have mold in a couple days, and if the moisture level corrects (like from the jar being opened for people to inspect) the mold can stop, leaving just a small portion of the jar with visible mold.

the regulation is all about the money, and nothing else. It isn't going to help patients one bit, you can be sure of that.

Take it back, even if you aren't sure. They should be skilled enough to tell at a quick glance.

As a side note, the DOR is authorized to take samples at any time. There are tests for mold that can be done easily to pick it up. They would have to get very lucky and pick the one right bud though. Unless the whole grow is swimming in PM I guess.

I took it back, it all got worked out. I just wasn't sure what to expect, if they were going to be jerks about it or anything. But it was fine.

At Southwest we scope everything that we sell. If you see anything or even just want to look at medicine you got because it's cool, (from here or anywhere else) we'll fire up the scope for you. I don't know what other shops do but we'll take back anything for any reason, no questions asked. That goes for medicine, edibles, accessories, etc.
