Okay well this is my first time ever attempting to grow. So their are a few things that i did semi-wrong when i started. I planted with MG soil , started the seedlings out in 5 Gal Buckets ... and was unsure of alot of things at the time i started. I now have enough knowledge i think that my next grow will be better and have faster and larger results.
Anyway ... getting to the question i have , My Plants are about 35-40 Days old ... ranging from 6" - 8" in growth and have nodes ranging from 5 nodes on the smallest and about 8 nodes on the largest. They have plently of nodes and leaves , but the nodes have not yet started alternating ... but im really wanting to get these babys into flowering ASAP . I understand that my yeild will be far less than i would like , but like i said this is my first ever attempt to grow and would like to get these flowered and harvest ASAP so i can start over with the medium i want to use , the right nutes and so on.
Am i able to start flowering these now even though the nodes are not alternating and they are only about 7" tall on average. If i can start flowering now ... how much yeild could i expect from each plant if it was 7" tall when i started the flowering process??
Btw , im useing a 400W HID light , and only growing 5 Plants right now ... this whole thing is really sort of a test run , but i do want to get some yield out of these ( also these were from some good bagseed , so im still unsure if these are male or female and i really want to know ) And if i can start flowering right now , can i use cuttings from the plants to make clones , not sure if cuttings to make a clone have to be from a more mature plant or not.
Some helpful advice would be great , thanks alot.

have you been topping them? Wonder why only 7-8 after 5 weeks. On average most people veg for like 30-45 days then flower. For outdoors i veg inside for 2 month and top them as much as possiable.Depending on the height of your room. You could veg em longer. If you turned them over to 12/12 now. They would for sure double in size by harvest. What type of light are you using hps or mh? I would say go ahead and flower. being your first run. After you get some experience. then you can get some good seeds and grow some monsters.

You can clone now. I suggest you get a bit more height before going to flower, but it will work. You might have to initiate flowering to sex the plants this early.

Yeah i know , i have seen others pics of theirs and have been vegging for the same time as mine , yet are bigger. I have topped them once , soon as they got their 5th set of nodes i topped. They are not very tall , but they are getting pretty bushy ... and like you said this is my first run at any of this ... came into this with NO info about growing MJ. I have been reading and asking for help on this fourm for the past month and i think i can do a little better next time ;) . If i do flower them now , how much would i expect to yield per plant ??
Thanks for all the help guys

Wow nice , ive been vegging more for a little longer than yours and mine look similar other than the fact that yours look slightly a bit taller , but as for the bushyness of them ... thats close to what mine looks like.
Also , can i ask what you have on the ground underneath your plants? Also any other little tips and hints for my grow room. ( I got most of the basics , but i know there are a few little tricks that i dont know about) Like somewhere i read something about putting carbon paper or something on the floor below your plants ..? Not sure why or anything but some tips like that would be GREAT. Thanks for taking the time to upload your pic. Im going to go take a pic of mine and post it in this thread , if someone with more knowledge then me would maybe give me a few pointers and let me know if i can start flowering.
Thanks again , the ppl on this forums are sooo damn helpful. Glad i chose this one.

watch the new growth....old leaves are old news
enjoy your grow...:)
(ps...it's just a black plastic trash bag under the plants, to catch runoff until I got a drip pan in place)...:pimp:

why have you placed sand on top of the soil ?? your plants are not healthy enough to flower.....go to the 'PLANT PROBLEMS" forum and fill out the trouble shooting form.heres the link http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-problems/127058-troubleshooting-form-yay-you-know-you-wanted-one.html

The white sand helps with three things... Bugs dont like it much , and dont lay eggs in sand due to the itchyness of the sand. 2nd ... The white (washed) sand reflects light upwards onto younger plants... And 3rd ... It prevents damping off in seedlings. That is why i have a layer of White washed sand over my Medium.
What should i trimm off my plants (on bottom ) ?? Not too sure exactly what to trim ??

what kind of bugs do you have?most soil based bugs can be controlled by allowing the soil to go through a wet/dry cycle .sand dries slowly, use perlite instead.also sand is a poor choice for sprouting seeds as is used soil or mix.......use only fresh from the bag soil and you don't have to worry about "damping off". IMHO light reflected to the bottom of the leaves does nothing but stress the plant.

I dont have any bugs right now , but want to keep it that way lol. The whole sand idea , i got from a grower whos a pro , it came right out of the Cannabis Culture Magizine. I read it in their , so figured hell if this guy who does it for a living and good enough to where his ads/tips are in every issue of the mag , that i would try it. And as far as the sand taking long to dry , my soil takes longer to dry the sand does and how you said going through a wet/dry cycle on the soil to get the bugs gone ... I wont need to do that if the sand does its job and keeps them out to start with.... But hey im VERY new to this .. this is my first grow and like i said i read it in the CC mag and sounded like a good idea to me. So i guess if im wrong for doing this , than the CC mag would be wrong because thats where i got the idea to do it.

cannabis in soil LOVES wet/dry cycles.....the sand is preventing or slowing the movement of air [oxygen ] through the soil and may be the cause of your problems. did the mag u read tell u that some kinds of sand r TOXIC to ur babies?did it offer alternatives such as perlite or DE ?my tip is get rid of the sand and let the soil dry between waterings,,,,,use ph'd water and if bugs show up kill per advice for that specific bug.

See thats something i didnt know ... i didnt know that cannabis liked to have a dry/wet cycle kinda like the lighting cycle ?? I figured they liked to be at least a little moist mostly all the time. So now that i do know this ... how long should i let my soil dry before watering it ?? How offen really should i water these and how much should i water them ?? They are in 5 Gal Buckets so its kinda hard for me as a new grower to tell if they are good or not . Have any easy advice to help me understand when they need water and when they dont because they are in 5 Gal buckets the bottom could still be wet and the top dry ... so that throws me off aswell.
As for the sand being toxic ... i made sure that the sand i bought was not toxic , it was processed / washed / siflted sand. Very high quality "fine" sand so i know that it wont hurt them in any way as far as the sand having toxins.
And know the mag didnt offer any alts. it just had a quick little tip section in it that i took attention to. I may just get Mylar and put in on the floor underneath my flowering plants ... would this be a good idea instead of the sand ?? I still do want light reflection upwards on them ... alot of ppl i talked to said that its either that or some sort of lower side lighting ... but again , im very NEW!!!'
any advice is welcomed and appreciated
