A study done at the University of California at Los Angeles has proven that cannabis smoking whether light or heavy does not cause cancer. Although tar from any smoke is unhealthy there is absolutely no link to causing cancer. The only link found between cannabis smokers and cancer is that it actually decreases the chances of getting certain types of cancer including that of the mouth and lungs.
Below are some sources for the study and others of its kind.

There's usually two sides to every issue, but weed is one of the rare exceptions. There really isn't any honest argument against it: lies, buzz words and distortion are their only tactics.

As more studies are done, and more people do research, the more places this pops up the better!
Recently published in the Washington Post is a great thing
What more is that its not "smoke" that causes cancer, it is carcinogens. Cannabis does not contain carcinogens, it actually helps fight against cancer. Vaporization is the preferred method of ingestion however so that you avoid the toxins and tar found in all smoke.

This article is dated May of 2006. I wouldn't say it's that recent, but still nice to shove in peoples faces:P !!!
