Okay, so as I may or may not have mentioned in my introduction thread, ive been smoking green for little over 2 weeks now. The first week was entirely with my brother in pittsburgh and other than after some of the hits, I never coughed and my lungs felt fine. Fast forward to this last week of being home and continuing this green journey with a friend of mine, and every day I have chronic coughing and my lungs kindof hurt if I breath in real deep.
I mean I know smoking weed isnt the healthiest thing in the world or anything, but am I already supposed to be feeling this terrible? I would expect this from cigarettes, but I guess I was under the (possibly false) assumption that smoking weed wasnt quite as bad for you, since it doesnt have all that added junk.
Any thoughts?

I'm a smoker, 14 years off and on, and a toker, for about the same time frame lol. I find that A) depends on WHAT you're smoking and B) How you're smoking it.
I find that bongs and bubblers are alot easier on the lungs, Pipes are next on the list, followed by high grade hemp papers and then crappy rolling papers. Using thicker rolling papers while easier to roll are hard on the lungs.
Pot isn't as bad for your lungs as ciggy's, but still has alot of tar and stuff in it, and if you have "dirty" weed or weed that hasn't been flushed properly it can be pretty hard on the lungs lol.
If you've never smoked before and now all of a sudden have taken up daily toking it's no wonder your lungs are having a hissy fit :p
You can also try eating it, lots of good instructions on how to make bud butter for brownies or cookies. That way no lung problems, that's what my grandma does cause she's got throat damage.

Good idea. Or you could invest in a vaporizer.
Is this the same bud the whole time, or did you begin coughing with a different batch? If the later, you may want to check to ensure there is no mold. That is a real bitch on the lungs.
Whatever you do, keep practicing!

Yeah man thats just how it goes, sometimes it just the buds your smoking, sometimes its how your smokin it ie. joint etc.Personally I prefer water pipes/bongs,but you cant always carry one around.I also smoke cigs which doesnt really help the lungs out,but I can still kill a bong in one rip if I wanted too :jointsmile::jointsmile:
p.s. Try and take longer slower hits it helps a bit.

yea I suppose it might be the batch. When I was with my brother in pittsburgh, we were using his stash in a peanut butter jar. then here back in iowa my friends baggie. I thought the bong was easier on the lungs too but it seems when I use his bong my symptoms are 10 times worse. Like I try to take too big a hits or I dunno man

Mouldy weed can give you a world of problems and do some damage on your lungs. Check the stash for little white spots/spider web looking areas. If you see any, that means mould. Also if it has a little bit of an ammonia scent coming from it, that's a sign of mould.

If you suck in any air, while your inhaling, or pulling, the smoke, it may make you cough. Pay attention to your diaphragm, also.
