I tried to Pm you but couldn't. Recent California law(Jan 2010) says that there can be no limit on the number of plants grown. That being said, I have solid info from my local pd that under 99 plants with a rec they won't mess with. I'm not in any way encouraging you to break the agreement that you and your dr have with regards to how many plants you need, just simply that she needs to apply for her own rec and you'll be ok.

actually ALOT of people arent aware of the california supreme court decision. heres a link to a news article on it
California Supreme Court strikes down limits on medical marijuana possession | L.A. NOW | Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/01/california-supreme-court-strikes-down-limits-on-how-much-medical-marijuana-a-patient-can-possess.html)
actually, the 99 plant thing must be dependant on what county your in. awhile back, i had three plants stolen (dumb kids, and they got caught too). i reported the theft to the sheriffs office ( they got a bunch of stuff from my office also) and they came out and dusted for prints and made a report. the sheriffs sergent who came out looked at my recomendation, and i asked him if i had to many plants ( ive got a BUTTLOAD of plants) and he told me "no, your fine. if i walked in here and you handed me your recomendation and it was ok ( they know mine is) it wouldnt make any difference if you had 5000 plants, there wouldnt be anything that we could do unless you were caught selling it illegaly"...i made sure to get his business card and badge number too, JUST IN CASE, but thats what i was told. i even had the MET team hover over my outdoor grow and look it over, wave and then fly off...... thing is, in the three counties surounding me, thee have been multiple arrests for to many plants ( some upwards to 1000+) since january 2010, and every single case has been throw right out of court as soon as the recommendation was flashed and validated.
now, with that many plants (1000+) even though the local cps wnt screw ya, that doesnt mean the feds wont come knocking on your door eh?

one other thing...
i wonder how many counties have lawsuits on them after arresting someone for "to many plants" and then the cali supreme court rules that limits were unconstitutional.....

TheShastaCoMan Im writing because Im planning on moving to Cali with wife and two little kids in Feb/Mar 2011 from Florida and Shasta(Redding) is top on my list. Im 31 years old and suffer from major back disc/foot problems from my younger college football days. So I have been growing for 8 years for both medicine and to survive becuase its very hard holding a job when sometimes you cant make it to work because of the pain. I have always grown 70 plants at a time and my system works with that plant number. Will it be possiable to grow those numbers with no legal problems in redding or any city in shasta county? Are there any special licenses I would need to get beside my MMJ card? Im going to be renting for maybe the first year so I can regroup the moving expense are the landlords cool with people growing or should one just keep it quiet and not say anything? Also I grow Hydro is there a good market for it there or will I have to drive down to other dispen/coop to get rid out it. As you can see I have so many questions just want to dot my I and cross my T lol Its a big move and want to know as much as I can. Thanks for your time looking forward to hearing back from you and maybe picking your brain a little more lol

I live in Shasta County, just north of Redding (near the lake). I would suggest that you locate OUTSIDE of city limits. There is less gov't looking over your shoulder. That said, I have to say that the Chief of Police of Redding PD is a very enlightened man. He complies with the letter AND the spirit of the law. You will probably have no problem in Redding, but even less outside of city limits. MMJ card is all you need outside of Redding. Inside, they restrict size via zoning laws. Be careful, wher ever you go that you are not too close to a school, etc.
Re: Landlords. I have given this advice before. I am a Real Estate Broker, am a landlord. Tell the prospective landlord RIGHT UP FRONT what you're doing. Don't try to hide it. Show him pictures of your old grow with emphasis in the pictures that you will NOT damage his property. Show that the walls are not mildewed, no holes in them, the floors are dry. That is really ALL he cares about ... well, one more thing ... he cares that the rent will be paid on time every time. So, bring pictures of your current grow, and a letter of recommendation from your current landlord saying that you have NOT DAMAGED HIS PROPERTY and that you PAY ON TIME. If, after all that, the prospective landlord says 'no', then good, you found out early. Get on to the next one - he's too stupid to work with anyway. If, on the other hand, you have damaged the property of others, then you need to buy a house so you can tear up your own chit.
Welcome to Redding, where people ask you when first introduced: "What caliber do YOU carry?"

Get arrested with a (legal) quantity of MMJ AND a ("legal") gun - go to Jail!
Just look at the Tehama County court dockets - average 2 year sentence in the State Prison.
Get arrested doing ANYTHING illegal while packin' - go to Jail for a LONG time!
Guns can hurt you in many ways...

Not always true. Arrested for DUI alcohol(knocked down to wet &reckless) because I was under the legal limit of .08), A little over an ounce, and a loaded concealed firearm(I had been in the mountains and NEVER go without a firearm). The cop was OK personality wise, but threw the book at me:
1) DUI
2) Speed enhancement(I WAS speeding)
3) Possession of a loaded firearm.
4) Possession of a concealed firearm
5) Possession of marijuana, over an ounce
6) Possession of paraphenalia
7) Wreckless endangerment
This was before I got my MMJ card and all I ended up with was a year probation and a conviction of Wet&Reckless meaning I had to attend 3 months of alcohol awareness classes. Not bragging in any way, shape, or form, but a decent lawyer can work wonders.

I have a permit to carry concealed - it is good anywhere in California. There are restrictions printed on the back of the permit.
1) Can not be carried in any establishment that serves alcoholic beverage.
2) Can not be carried while under the influence of alcoholic beverave.
3) Can not be carried on federal land, courts.
4) Must be surrendered upon request of a police officer.
That's it. I can have a half oz, and carry at the same time. And I do. Walther PPK .380

Since no one appears to have answered your original question here is the answer. Dr. Milan Hopkins in Upper Lake, Ca. His license states that the holder can have up to 99 plants and up to 19 pounds for personal use:stoned:. The price is like $250 for 6 months and a little less if you make an appointment. People from all over flock to his clinic to get licenses. I don't go there personally though I have in the past and many of my friends currently go there. I drive by at least once a week and there are always people waiting to get licenses. He is a legitimate doctor and also has patients with cuts, breaks and other illnesses not seeking licenses.

Agreed. The quality of your lawyer will determine how many plants you can have and how many pounds you can posess. A huge amount will probably require a lawyer who charges $25,000. However I heard you can give a $5,000 retainer and they claim they can get you off of any Marijuana related charge with a valid license.

Firearms and grows are not the best combo. If Feds get involved and they find one, even in a safe, you will be charged with having a firearm during the commission of a felony. Not worth the aggravation ihmo.

Thanks for that info Puppethead. Since I like to hunt (huntin' n killin') I almost always have one or more guns in my truck. I have my 22 all the time plus .270 or 12 gauge most of the time. I am pretty safe behind our gate and can find plenty of game there but I do wander out to the National Forest from time to time. I live on an island of private land (thus state not fed prop) surrounded by the National Forest (fed).
I will keep this info in mind to avoid that particular situation.

Here's the info directly from one of the best Cannibus Attorney's in California!
1. Do NOT have any guns, and do not have 100 or more plants.
If the Law Enforcement Community wants to really screw with you they will charge you with the commitment of a felony with a gun enhancement which means if you are found guilty that you are looking at a MANDITORY 5 year prison sentence (the judge cannot wave it) and if you display the guns it's 7 years and if you fire it, then it's 10 years..... That's a long fucking time that the judge cannot wave no matter what the situation is!
Don't be stupid, get rid of the guns! Take them to your mom's house and store them in the attic, but don't have them on-site, get a good air-rifle, but nothing that uses gunpowder!
100 or more plants and you're in federal land no matter how many plants your script states, or how many scripts you have! Federal land is not a nice place considering that they have lots of attorneys who are just looking to dick with stupid people!
Call a good attorney if you have questions before you start making stupid mistakes that can fuck with your whole life and your family!
Good Luck and be safe!

It is pretty simple to keep from having weed and guns in the car at the same time on federal government land. I just saw a huge bear yesterday and will start toting my .270 in case I can get him. He has been terrorizing 3 properties I know of in my area. I have to have any food in a bear proof box. The bear comes anyway then gets angry and tears up my camp. He tears up the compost for my composting toilet ($39 per bag) and I can't leave bags of soil for more than a couple of days or he will tear them up. He will even tear open cans of soda. If I see him I will drop him.
I keep weed at my property (CA) so I don't have to travel through the national forest (feds) with guns and weed. Behind the gate on my property I have a medical license and never get near 100 plants so there is no federal crime taking place.
It is turkey season now so I have been riding with my shotgun handy and I plan to carry my .270 in case I see that darn bear again. I have a good pellet gun (Gammo Big Cat 1200fps) but that would just piss a bear off.

Just on a note, you seem to be fairly familiar with wild game, but I woud not consider myself a good enough sportsman to use a .270win without at least a good handgun back-up. I prefer the 7mm Rem Mag, but you still have to hit the target for a quick kill. I realize you wil have your truck as well since you aren't hunting the bear but rather keeping an eye out for him. I once had to take 3 shots with my .270 to drop a bear. I was deer hunting, hence the .270, but when I stumbled upon him(quietly as I was following a game trail) he charged. I aimed the first shot, but the next two were more or less "point 'n shoot". I was lucky there was a downed tree between us that allowed me to get off the 3rd round that hit underneath the chin right as he attempted to get over the log.

I do need a side arm. My family and I ride moutain bikes on the same road I saw the bear on yesterday.
I figure the minimum should be a .357 Mag but a .44 would be more desirable. Even a 1911 Army Colt .45 auto would work. I am pretty good with the pistol but I have been in Alaska and have seen up close how fast a bear can run. You would be lucky to get 1 or 2 shots off with the best modern firearm before you were bear chow. I figure with the .357 I could get six shots off without the gun raising too high between shots. With the .44 mag it bends the elbows a bit and takes longer to get the gun in position for the next shot. Thus the first shot has to be a good one. The bomb would be one of those .50 Mag but again you would have to make the first shot count because that gun will raise your arms after each shot. Also those are very expensive.
For now I carry about 15 rounds of 00 buck for my shotgun which I consider my back up for now. That should finish off even the biggest angriest bear. A lot of the folks in AK were carrying shotguns on slings with 00 buck. I spoke with one person who lived there who said he preferred it to a pistol since you don't have to take the added time to aim, just point and shoot.

Awww, John, that's why I'm in the Central Valley. A little more accepting here among the farmers!
@Rudy: Yes, I carry a S&W .357sig as my usual sidearm. Kind of uncommon round, but you have 10+1 in a durable polymer frame that I have never seen jam(2000+ rounds) AND have another quick 10 in case you are facing something other than a bear. PERSONALLY, I'd rather face a bear over a mountain lion, cougar, bobcat, whichever you want to call it anyday. Those bastards are sneaky and lightning quick. At least with a bear there's a LITTLE warning. Every once in a while I swear I look into my son's cat's eyes and see the bloodlust.:;)

There are also definitely mountain lions, bobcats and lynx as well as coyotes the size of german shepards in my area. I saw a lynx or bobcat on the same road I saw the bear on last sunday. Also a wild boar on that same private road that was huge.
Actually I do Hate range cows! My land is in the middle of open range land surrounded by national forest. If I want to keep the cows out I have to fence them out. They mess up my springs and occasionally some plants. They ate the top off a Lambs Bread and kept knocking down plants and beating up my hoses for my springs. I do let my dogs chase them once in a while and fire a few shots in the air if they still refuse to leave. These cows live with mountain lions and packs of coyotes so they can back down a dog.
I do see lots of game in my area though and the hunting is pretty easy.
