If you use neem oil don't hit them too heavy. It can kill the plant. It doesn't take much neem to give the little critters the raging shits. Hit lightly focusing on the underside of the leaves about every 3 to 5 days.
I've still had very good luck with the HotShot strips.

+1 on the application of neem. As for it killing the plant,... you basically have to over concentrate it and spray to runoff in order to kill it. The oil can block the pores that allow the leaves to breathe.
As for the HotShots strip. It works in some cases, but I've seen the little bastards become resistant to it. And in the only instance that I tried to use one, IT almost killed my plant! Turns out GDP is sensitive to the off gasses that that thing produces.

Don't wash off the neem after you spray. Should take 2 weeks to get them all killed without the pest strip

In order for the HotShots to work well you have to turn the fans off for a couple days. Some people forget to do this and don't get good results. Also of course spider mites will lay there eggs in the soil and they can remain dormant for quite a while so adding some neem to the soil can help.
