first of all i wanna say HI EVERYONE! new grower here! or well.. ive done one crop, blueberry, it went really nice except i had some problems with mites :( anyways im off with my new one and ive discovered that i MIGHT have heat problems..

first of all im using a 600w hps wich is 1m (3,2 ft or smthn) over some 4 days old seedlings now to get rid of the heat i got a 100øm fan to blow directly at and sort of under the hps to get rid of the worst heat. im taking the temp, by putting the temp messure next to the pots (wich are really small) so its right down by the plants basicly, in the "sun" baking, and its reading 28-29 C.

my question is: Beacause its "in the sun" will it read hotter then it rly is because of the wind thats blowing at the HPS? or is that the correct reading?

sorry if my english is crap im from a diff. country :pimp:

oh yea and i got another small question, i saw this post (in this forum)

http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-growing/181723-growing-more-females-seed.html

has anyone tried this?

im just not sure wut to do after i switch to 14/10. shud they stay at 14/10 until they're rdy to go into flower or shud i go 14/10, then push it to 18/6 then the flower 12/12??

wudnt that mess my plant up completly? = hermie

What is the space like? Is it small and enclosed? Regardless, you are going to need to provide good ventilation to get rid of the heat. Read up on fans in these forums. See my signature for a good place to start.

Your temperature should be taken from a shaded spot at or near plant level. Direct light on the thermometer will distort the reading.

Put the timer at 18/6 and leave it there until you are ready to flower. Then 12/12.

Keep it simple and don't futz with the plants too much.

Read was much as you can. The stickies around here are pretty good.

I've read about getting more fems from seeds and have a few friends who swear by it. I get feminized seeds myself. Takes the guess work out of it for just a bit more dosh.

the more i read the more confused i get lol so many things and methods and theyre always better then the other one, yea :D

i grow in a 2m x 1m homebox with the doors open and the fan sitting on a chair to blow at the hps..

not rly sure how im gonna measure the temp in the shade, yea? i mean 600w hps in 1m space dosnt leave much shade.. shud i try to cover the thermometer up with some cardboard or smthn? wud that help?

so ur saying i shudnt give a f*** bout the "get more females" things? just run 18/6 all the way until 12/12 ?

btw anyone really KNOW the facts between the 20/4 and the 18/6? wichs one works the best? :/

i know many says 18/6 cus u save some power but i dont rly have that problem, yea ;)

You can veg most plants anywhere from 24/0 to 18/6....there is no BEST. It all depends on your personal situation and what works best for you. ;)

I agree with Bigsby... Keep it simple. Stick with your veg time all the way until flower. Not only is it easier on the plants but yourself as well. My timer is a pain in the ass to setup cycles so the less I have to mess with it the happier I am.
