hi
i was wondering, i have a big attic, that could fit a tent in it
question is would the heat glow up on flir even though it would be contained in a tent?
attic is not insulated at top neigher?

I wouldn't worry TOO much about flir. It is expensive to run and they generally don't use it to just scan neighborhoods. That being said, if you are concerned about it, I would insulate the roof well.

I would think that if you use a high R-value insulation on the roof, you will eliminate a lot of heat signature. If you put the insulation over the tent, you may run into temp. problems.

I wouldnt worry about that as much as trying to control temps in an attic. I dont care how much exhaust you have if you live in warm climate it will get 150f+ up there. God forbid its even close to that and the light comes on. If you live in cold climate which i guess you dont with no roof insulation it is much easier. You want a steady temp around 75f in your tent. Run exhaust out the back of house by a roof vent. It will look like a dryer venting to a heat sesative camera. If temps in tent are controled and exhasted right you have no problem with being seen. I exhaust mine out a dormer on the roof just looks like attic heat escaping. :rasta:

yea at the minute i got it in the bedroom, exhauting out through the chimney, but i did wont to go in the attic in my tent just due to more stealth from people coming in house, would i still be able tomake it go out in the chimney if i was in the attic u reckon??
thanx:)

Not unless you were to make a hole in the chimney where it passes the attic space. Then your fireplace could never be used again. You should have attic vents that you can get to easily. Just run over to one of them. To my knowledge all house attics have them, yours should be no different. If you were worried about being seen by the flir it would look alot funnier to that camera if heat was coming out a chimney in August. Use the attic vents, better, easier, and safer. :rasta:
