Alright so this is my second hydro grow, ive grown with DWC before and I feel that im ready to really dip into olther hydroponic methods.

I started my clones in rockwoll cubes and then transplanted them into bigger cubes upon rooting. I made a batch of nutrient solution. (5.5 PH and at 190 PPM) that included "Great White:, Big bloom, and grow big. Its a pretty weak mix but I have seen no signs of over fertalization. I made a drip irrigation system with a cheap water pump and five gallon bucket. They get water 6 times a day, in 2 minute intervals which is all controlled by timer. I only feed during the lights on period, and I have airtsones running 24/7. Holes in the bottom of the tray that lets the excess solution drain directly back into the Bucket.

I transplanted them 4 days ago and they are just now starting to show solid growth again. When the roots s tart to really reach out, they will start to grow into the hydroton.

Now this is not the final home for these lucky ladies. My flowering/ Main veg closet is filled with sticky gooey nuggets at the moment. Thats where my HPS/MH is for the moment.. I have a bigger res for my irrigation system ready to go, i just need to get some bigger trays. Qaulity ones arent cheap either, who woulda known plastic was so fucking expensive. I will be filling the entire tray with more Hydroton, and transplanting the rockwoll cubes into it.

Any input would be appreciated from all of the Hydro experts. Martrprojekt in particular, he was the person i copied most of my design from hahaha. Your epic grow was an inspiration to me, and i wish i lived near you so i could smoke some of that da da dankness.

My main concern would be your watering schedule...
In my experience with rockwool, 6x a day is too much, I would say you would be better off perhaps 3x a day...possibly even 2x. Rockwool holds a lot of moisture for a long time.

If you're having success, great! but I would consider feeding less times.

yea I knew the feeding schedule was a work in progress. I still feed 6 times a day but ive also put the rockwoll cubes on top on Hydroton and now i flood the bottom too..

Its a top drip/ Ebb and flow hybrid setup. They get water from the top while the hydroton at the bottom gets flooded with aerated nutrient solution. I had to adjust the flood times a little bit, but growth is really blowing up.

Its acually getting really crowded. My flowering room better finish up soon or else i might need another 250 Watt for this closet too.

It seems that the clones I took from my outdoor plants were a little into flower. I seem some retarted re veg growth on a few of them.

Your purple is the biggest yielding purple ive seen yet. Id love to have a chance to grow some out.

I have a handful of beans from my own purple creation that I still havent had the chance to breed out again. Need a bigger area... I cant remember the mother genetics but the father was a fine strawberry haze. Ill have to look at the info in my journal for the mother.

Moved them into theyre final destination, put them under the HID, and t5's(combination of 2700k and 6500k bulbs for some extra resin production).

I have a 10 gallon res that is directly below the plants where the nutrient solution is aerated, and recirculated. All i do is check PH and add water, all the timers, pumps, and lights do the rest.

Ive been bending, topping, and super cropping before I flower them next week.

here we are in the 3rd week of flower. Ive been giving them blasts of bushmaster every week or so in order to control the stretch. It has been working great.

I switched from fox farms, to house and garden nutrients and Im never going to go back. The Ph stays more stable and Its just a better quality product. Ive been running the big bud at 2 ml per gallon and it seems to be working good. BTW Roots Excelurator is some reallly good stuff and even though the price was steep, im glad i bought it.

I also upgraded and baught an aircooled hood that i have hooked up to my inline fan. Also got a 250 watt Hortilux Super HPS bulb and popped that sucker in there. It helped lower the temperature of the closet to a perfect, 75 degrees. . The buds can touch the glass and still not burn.

seriously though, i reallllllly like these House and Garden nutrients. I havent even been using a PPM pen and the nutrient schedule posted on their website has produced no burning, even at full strength.I have no idea what PPM's are, and I notice nothing but vigorous growth. Fox farms burned my leaves really bad and the PH would bounce up and down like a basketball. I used to be a loyal FF customer but thats because iv'e never tried anything else.

I probaly made 500$ in ugrades to nutrients, lighting, irrigation systems, ventilation, ect. I owed it to my plants, they're single handedly sending me through college. Coming from a family of alchoholics who aren't really there for me, sometimes my plants are all i have.

GetThisOrDie
11-21-2010, 01:48 AM
FF will definitely burn if you follow the full strength schedule. I usually cut it in half or less with no burning and still great growth. Also switched from feed, water, feed to feed, water, water, feed. That helped a TON with the FF burning.

Updated nightime pictures.

Total of 15 gallons of nutrient solution.
currently running......
1.1 ml/gal Roots excelerator
10 ml/gal Aqau flakes a+b(adding 11 ml of a, and then 11 ml of b after)
2 ml/gal Cal mag+
2 ml/gal AN Big Bud
5 ml/gal Big bloom
1 ml/gal Purple maxx
2.5ml/gal Humbolt Hydro Carbs(basically mollases)
2.5ml/gal GH silica blast

I let it sit for 20 mintues and the PH is PERFECT at around 5.8-6.2. NO PH UP, NO PH DOWN. I fucking love it. When i use fox farms tiger bloom my ph is around 5 before i use PH up.

I check PH daily and also add around 2 gallons of water daily to replenish the res. Ever week i add 3 teaspoon's of "Great White" to replace my bene's just incase they die off somehow. Growth is really starting to blow up and buds are starting to pop up everywhere.

Also did some pruning of the fan leaves to open up the canopy a little and allow better penetration. I have a tendancy to really jam them in this closet so pruning is needed, it just a jungle after a while.

I would love to add C02 into the closet but I also NEED to cool my lights and ventilate the smell.
With my fans on during the daytime, all of my C02 would be sucked right out. Anyone have a Suggestion?

Well if you introduce co2 you can let it get hotter in there. You can have the hood draw air from outside of the tent for cooling as well.

Cant you flood with co2 then after awhile exhaust for fresh air then flood again and repeat? Ive never used co2 so I might be wrong.

If your closet is in an area with people living then forget it it's too dangerous. A co2 leak can kill people and pets. Other than that.

Raise temps to 95 degrees and flood the room with 1500 ppm's co2 for about 4 hours. Completely flush room with fresh air. Fill with co2 again. This does not need to be done during dark period just flush with fresh air.
This may finish you up one week early.

These are Actually not DWC, but of a Ebb and Flow system that I created. The plants are in Rockwoll that sits on top of Hydroton in 2 seperate trays. 3 plants per tray. I flood them 5 times a day, every hour and a half.

Ive done DWC before but changing Buckets was a pain in the ass in late flower. This new system is easier to maintain and is totally automated with timers and pumps. PH and PPM's stay more stable also.

DWC is a great way for soil growers to experiment with hydroponics. The idea of of a five gallon bucket with an airstone at the bottom is as simple as you can get. The yields can be huge if you do it right too

If you greenhouse hydro, just be careful of your water temps. Get too hot and you'll have stinky bacteria and fungi in your water that will make you wonder just what the heck is going on. Nice grow. So is this kind of like a tray version of krusty bucket? Good to see you're in Wa. too. It's a good place to go indoors or outdoors if you've got the land. Good temps for both.

these pics should better explain things.

I have two trays that are actually designed for Rockwool slabs, but I filled them with Hydroton and Transplanted my Rockwool into the hydroton. I flood the troughs, and it drains back to ther res by gravity. I keep one side higher than the other with books so it drains freely.

I had some overflow issues when I first started and I also ran into some over watering problems, but Throughout the grow ive worked out the kinks and I got everything dialed in before I flowered them.

Very simple setup. Flood the trays and let gravity drain it back. I like simple.:jointsmile:

I think its helping, but I havent seen a huge difference in growth.

Alright Im gunna take some cuts tomorrow as soon as I can buy another T5 fixture for the other closet. into I know I'm kinda gay for those t5's but ive been getting really good results with them. Im about to say fuck it and turn my study room's closet in a full time veg and mother room. It would save me tons of time though because i always have to reveg my clones, which is a real pain in the ass. I just popped some seeds of the purps, and im trying to get some different phenos. Hopefully theyll catch up to the reveg clones and ill have a even canopy.

In my flowering room I have the Enhanced Spectrum Super that has some exra blue light that my regular hps doesnt. I have noticed a difference in growth with the Hortilux bulb. It blows my sylvania out of the fucking water. On top of that I am using 4 2700k bulbs and 4 6500k bulbs to add a little more blue to the mix. I swear the supplemental Blue bulbs give a better quality product. I havent done a side by side grow, but ever since Ive been adding blue light during flowering ive seen increased resin production.

All i need is a LED and itll be like an acid trip in the closet. Red,yellow, orange, blue, purple.

Nice going dru

Hey I think your temps are lower than you think. It looks like your temp sensor is hanging there in direct light. That will give you a higher reading since its getting heated up by the direct light. Try shading it for a better reading.

Read somewhere that it was high 80s in the shade that you need to worry about.

drudown11
12-18-2010, 05:25 PM
The reason I have It so high is because I want to know the temps for the canopy. The closer you get to the light, the hotter it gets. The lower part of the plant may be 80 degrees, but you will still see stretching and airy buds because temps near the canopy are in the low 90's.

Ive only got about 2-3 weeks left anyways, im not to worried about it getting too hot. I just try and keep the temps down because it helps with the density of the buds.

My outdoor cannabis plants were in the mild climate and loved the 70 degree weather. My ideal temperatues would be for 70-75 degrees during the day and 60 degrees at night..

The trichs are maturing and some of the plants look ready but this Bushmaster has sped up my flowering cycle by a week and 1/2 so ive never cut them at 8 weeks before, always more towards 9 or ten. I took some pictures but had trouble uploading them yesterday. This is by far the best quality marijuana ive ever produced. I just smoked a sampler nug and it gets me twice as high as this other shit Ive been smoking on. I need a different THC to CBD ratio to rattle my shit for a couple of weeks before i get a tolerance again.

I also got ahold of a Blue Dream and White Russian clone. Im holding on to them for a buddy until his room is up and running(he will be giving me some in the end if Im growing these plants for any amount of time). I will take a few cuts from the bottom when I give them back(ive been looking for blue dream for a while, i cant just let it get away from me)

BTW im not impressed with the quality of the clones from the dispensary. They were shitty clones took from shitty branches and they were stunted from defiency and underwatering. All of them were like that. Maybe I should grow some mothers and sell the dispensary some quality product, I have clones from flowering females that look better than these.
