some wisdom from some folks that know more than myself.. Ill try to keep it short so i don't bore to many of you...
I'm a 48 yr old recovering alcoholic w/ migraines & I can get meds like zanex, Valium & some barbiturates all day long...I tried it the legal way & after about 4-5 years my mind & soul made "The Endangered Species List" I was losing everything!!!
An associate of my has a son that suffered the same & suggested MJ, well I did & from that point on I never had a head ache like i used to! Its a miracle i say!!... I had to change the way i think now, I had to smoke dope...Went against what I believed!
Now my problem, I am going to have to move from Texas to Colorado, I'm sorry to you folks that don't like Texans or that I'm a Libertarian. I will tell you I am proud to be a CHRISTIAN, I love the USA & I'm a man of my word! That being said I got busted with MJ the other day it could be over a lb & I had lot of guns, thats a no no!!
I have not been arrested as of yet but I will... I am not really worried about the jail time, I more worried about having to go back to the legal way to deal w/my migraines which is a death sentence for me... My ONLY choice is a MMJ safe state & Colorado is the one We (my family,6 ea.) has picked sorry again!! ...
So any directions, suggestions, past experiences would be helpful.Especially Knowledge We consist of 3 adults, 12 yr old & 7 yr old twins cant do big cities (orig, from Dallas) I know I've left out lots of info but I didn't want to carry on, ask anything you wish!
thank you so much in advance!

You were caught with over a pound of weed and lots of guns in Texas and you're not worried about jail time? Even if you got probation and moved here your probation would follow you here and you would be given drug tests and most likely would not be allowed to use marijuana, medical or otherwise.

if that's the case, I'd say it's time to go now!

Texas huh ? Bummer. I would think that the warrant is going to follow you, colorado or not.. Maybe its a question of whether colorado would be willing to pick you up on the warrant and send you back to Texas. Maybe NORML has some advice for you...

all they(Texas Rangers) did was take my pot, they left my guns all of them & i have a savage 30-06, 4 FAL's, 2 SKS's, 5 22's A tec 9, 454 casull, 38 Sp, probibly over 1k of rounds of ammo & half are armor piercing, they did not take nothing but pot!! they did not kill my Doberman, they didn't tear up my house, that didn't call CPS ( i have 3 children) hell the Texas Ranger called my wife & told her to take the kids to the park & i would call when it was all said & done, now the person in charge works for the DPS... Hell they called the BATF&E out of Beaumont for the guns I put together to make sure they were compliant & they believed they were!
They did read me my rights once they found out how many guns I had, hell they left some of the weed(they probibly knew I was going to need it). they didn't tell me not to leave town, they left all the paraphernalia & 3 joints in the ash tray
this is where I will piss off cop haters-I HAVE GOT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE, THEY TREATED ME WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT, THEY DIDN'T BELITTLE ME OR TRIED TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKES SCUM,THEY DIDN'T EVEN CUFF ME, HELL THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OFFICERS THAT SHOOK MY HAND & APOLOGIZE THAT WE HAD TO MEET THIS WAY, A FEMALE STARTED TALKING ABOUT HER AZALEAS & WHAT SHE WAS DOING WRONG IN THERE GROWTH, THE STORIES COULD GO ON & ON HOW THEY WENT BEYOND IN TREATING ME LIKE A HUMAN & NOT SOME SCUM BAG! i REALLY HAVE TO RESPECT THEM!! THEY WERN'T EVEN SMART ASSES & i THINK THATS A REQUIREMENT FOR BEING A COP.thay all assured me that they were just dion their job
Technically, I am a law abiding citizen, I just can't take what sociality deems ok for the rest of the population, my brains chemical makeups bad!!
I also have never sold or given away one iota of cannabis, this was my personal grow & having a excessive personality (alcoholic) as I do with so many things i just got carried away with my grow, my character defect or flaw, obsessiveness is one of the symptoms.
I have a running 68? passsenger bus I'm thanking about fixing to live in @ mabe a state park for the time being
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!

After reading all that, you got bigger issues to deal with than having to move.
CPS in Co won't deal well with a family of 6 living out of a bus on BLM (Bureau of Land Management,) or "public" lands, Add to that the # of weapons, and the MJ (Still a federal crime for some stupid reason) And your eventually asking for trouble, but as you already said, "Havent been arrested, but will"
If you do chose to go that route, you will have to move your camp every week, at least 3 miles from the last place and stay outside that 3 mile radius for 3 months. Of course the rangers cant really enforce that, but if they do catch you more than a few times you will be charged with squatting. (been there done that, lived out of a tent/back of my car for about 9 months in Glenwood springs, Only got busted by a ranger once, but I never lingered in one place for long.)
Good luck, and welcome to Co! :hippy:

What are your talents? Can you get a job here to get started? Colorado has many beautiful areas, some great mountain towns, the plains, and the larger cities, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Grand Junction.
IMHO, I would move the F#@k out of Texas, Search online, find a job, and get an apartment. I know that is easier said then done but it sounds like you are not going to thrive where you are now. So I will leave you with a last piece of advice that an old man gave me once. "Cowboy up, think of your family, and do what needs to be done."
Hope this helps and enjoy Colorado.

Sorry I didn't make myself to clear, I would not bring my family until I was set up for family living(job, house, yard, dogs & the American dream or @ least a house & job ) I would be the only one to live in a bus that I'll convert to RV status & maybe hook it up to state park lots as a rv, hell I'll even try to work @ one as an attendant so I wouldn't have to pay the lot fee!
I need to be able to communicate with real time people, not stats from 5 yrs ago, i need links to news paper classified, the areas to stay out of, houses that someone might know of because they just read it in a paper, maybe someone has rent property they need to rent out. Someone might own acreage that i could work for my keep! I am willing to do anything moral & legal to survive this gift GOD calls life on Earth
i would give up all my Texas rights & never come back to this state if they would do the right thing & my drop the charges or give deferred adjudication for 10 yrs.
I am that desperate; I have not heard anything as of yet from law enforcement but I want to be prepared just in case the DA says "I'll take you up on it, you got a week to get out of town." I'd do it!!
thanks for all your help!!

Anywhere near the mountains is EXPENSIVE to live. There's some good folk up there, and if you really want to disappear,.... you can do it in the hills. But it's a tough life to live that way.
The flatlands and major city's are cheaper, work is easier to find, housing is more affordable, and overall cost of living is better.
There's lots of new development east of Denver in Thornton/Commerce City/ Aurora towards the airport. (DIA)
Buddy of mine just got a NEW house that's about 1/3 larger than mine for 40k less than I paid for my house!  ( his house was around 185k )
I would aim for somewhere between Denver and Ft.Collins as a starting point.
Hit up the Post/news classifieds for job listings and property's. There's others but that's the first one that comes to mind. Main Categories - Denver Post Classifieds (http://denverpost.ca.kaango.com/ads/listAdCategories)
Hope that helps! ;)

My talents are few, I been in the restaurant business since 1978, everything you could imagine FOH & BOH managers, cooks & everything in between, I've opened them, changed menus, ordered from vender's,hired & fired. I had 6wks of advance mgt training from the Pillsbury co.(Steak N Ale, Burger king, Key West etc...) If it has to do with the restaurant business I've probibly done it.
my hobbies are working on older vehicles, & until recently I grew MJ( the cops even complemented on how beautiful they were & they have never seen any as pretty), reloaded ammo.
And your right I am going to man up & do WHATEVER it takes to survive the way God intend me to!

Are you crazy? Denver / Littleton / Boulder (the major cities here) are the most expensive areas you can live in. The mountains (Morrison, west of Boulder, etc) have hundreds if not thousands of cheap houses to buy, many with an acre or ten to boot.
Do a map search of real estate, sort by price, and you'll see that anything INSIDE the 470 "ring" is expensive. Anything outside, including LOTS to the west, is cheaper.

Consider also job availability, commute time and fuel expense. Sure I could have gotten a house on acreage in conifer for less than I'm paying here in thornton, but I'd have a 2 hour commute to work each way vs my current 15 minuets. In that aspect the cost of living makes it unreasonable.
Boulder's prices are plain outlandish,... but have you spent much time in that city? It's a little far afield anyway!

I apologize if i have offended you with one of my hobbies(gun smithing), I also thought it was kind of strange that law enforcement would have left them, my motive was to find out if anyone has ever heard of this happening to them or someone else:
Why do people collect anything? If you don't mind me asking, do you have collectibles? Would it have been better if I collected cars, Barby dolls or how about different strains of cannabis, how about life savings like Madoff did; & besides I like to target shoot, its sorta like golf, I've got to get a little ball into a little hole except @ 900+fps; sometimes I even like to hunt.
Your problem with why I would let people know about my religious & political beliefs is to tell people more about me & my belief system. Besides that I am
very proud of who I am & what I believe in & constructive conversation was what I was hoping for, I really did not intend for the power of my words to cause you so much concern or problems understanding someone that you have never met & probibly never will...If you are curious of why I am the way I believe I will be more than happy to invite you to a conversation that could possibly chip away @ the boundaries of ignorance so that we both could walk away winners & having a better understanding of something we did not before I would be more than happy to give you my personal email if you wish.
"I also believe that people are like water, We seek out our own level;"
"Bird of a feather flock together"
I am not here for any type of negativity or more so of malice although I believe some people can't really help it, it is embedded in who they are, I have not met any myself personally as of yet!!
thank you for listening & may we all find what we seek.

Have you considered Montana?
They love guns & god and they're a med state too.
Not as heavily regulated as CO is getting.
Land is cheaper too.
If heart is set on CO, check out the western slope.
Really depends on what type of place you're looking for.
I think you said you're in Dallas or close to it - so do you prefer more urban areas or do you want something rural?
Mountains or plains?
What kind of work will you be looking for? This is probably going to be the number one deciding factor. For me and my profession - my only choice is the Denver Metro area for the most part. Any where else in the state, and I would be working part-time. Had the laws this past summer not changed the way things were here with MMJ, part-time wouldn't of been a problem as I could of just sold my extra meds to dispensaries. Now there's too much oversight for me and I had to scale back my grow & reduce the number of patients I was helping.

Good luck OP(originalposter). I hope it works out for you and yours. I think Parker, Lakewood, and probably most rural places would be grow friendly. I don't think Denver or Aurora or Brighton would be good options for you at this point.

thaibudda-thank you for the reply, I'll have to look @ Montana, its probibly colder than Colorado huh? Yes I am orig. from Dallas but I currently live in a city less than 1500 people. I live next to a river & woods, the biggest city close to me is Beaumont TX. & thats an hour away! I really really love the the little towns, no city lights competing with the stars,no sirens, no honking or people fighting, its heaven on earth to me!! I would love a small town, hell a ghost town wouldn't bother me to bad, but now the wife on the other hand.... I want to go back to a small town, I love knowing your neighbors(both of them) & counting on each other if the need arises, I want to stay as far from the big city as I can, I wouldn't mid driving 1 to 1.5 hrs to work to have the serenity of a country living, Mountains, plains, valleys,or flat lands really wouldn't hurt my feelings. I would work on a ranch if thats what it took, I am not afraid of work, I not to stupid(i did get busted) I can learn to do something else!
The restaurant industry is what I know best, so to find a job asap it will probibly fall back on that...the wife is a receptionist @ Dr's office & still is in collage. I know I will have to live at the poverty level far a while, but my wealth is measured by the health of my family & especially with the children
colorgrower420- thank you very much for the advice!! As far as opening up on line, people can only hurt me if I allow them to & I haven't given anyone that power, but I do understand what your saying & thank you!!

Check out farther south like Colorado Springs, Pueblo or Canon City. Check out this website for housing in Fremont County. I think you just might be interested becuase it is smaller town atmosphere. The weather is also milder than the northern regions.

not to make light of your situation, at all. its just that colorado is a liberal state and texas is mostly republican. if you shoot someone in texas your better off than growing and in colorado your better off not doing either. dont ask dont tell here. yeah we have some benefits, however i fear next pres. elect will determine the future. as always watch your back and consider that moving here will not avoid texas at all. maybe (texas rangers) were being nice to you, or maybe they get high:stoned: and this will be the last you here of it.

oh believe me they know what they are doing. its a profit scam...when you have 50% of the population using something that they can be arrested for, lawyers, police, judges, the whole lot get paid. then prison stocks go up, which are invested in by the very traitors that put you in prison. then if and when you get out it will be hard to find work so youll have to settle for some low paying crap job that wont even feed your mouth so then those bastards make a ton of money off of your hard work, they then fund political campaigns to protect their interests. the politicians then create propaganda campaigns about the evils of mj so they can stay in office, they then raid state and federal funding and hand that off to law enforcement so the process can never end. not to mention the profits from asset seizures and how well do you think all of this money is tracked, im guessing someone down the line is lining their pockets. make no mistake they know whats up. sadly the other 50% are brainwashed into believing the perils of this anti American, anti christian plant are real.

oh for sure, however that would require some sort of logic thats not based on profit. heres the kicker, prop 19 failed because 5% who went against it (that is those who were the pro mj people who sold out to greed) were dispensaries and growers who felt threatened from losing money also those of them who didnt vote. i believe everyone has a right to smoke with no legal recourse. in the end it will be education that will change all this nonsense. if i here anti mj banter i try to enlighten them, we all need to do that. if everyone educated people that do not understand how good mj really, is soon it will be legal. teach the younger folk that DARE is for the most part a lie and tell them the truth, pros and cons (should be doing that anyway like sex alcohol and everything else they need to know.) end result is i dont understand why people do half the things they do..."stupid, like a child."

logic & greed, up hill battle....
I agree w/you... everyone should be able to do what they want to their body or temple w/out the fear of a law enforcement coming to get you... as long as you hurt no other, go for it.... smoke, stick, eat, drink, or even lick a toad if thats what floats your boat.... my mama already raised me, I dont need the gov to take over..
we try to educate as many as we can... I just had a talk to my 12 yr old about DARE & drugs, tell her that there is natual drugs & chemical drugs & the gov gets to tell you want you can take..(alittle bit @ a time for a 12 yr old) she knows that i'm a recov drunk & its legal to drink...
Educate... I agree!
as far as stupid people that cant learn hopfully they will take themselves out of the gene pool...

feel ya on that, drinking will take it out of you, ive had some battles with that. my girl is 9 and ive discussed what daddy does for 3 years now, and that the simple fact is just because they are police doesnt mean you can trust them. they are human and subject to corruption, and/or ego(aka small penis syndrome, especially with the moustache clan) shooooot i just make fun all the time dont come and kill me leo. post this enough it better be an accident, lol. well start typing boy!
as far as stupid people, we can only hope that 5 billion would die but dont hold your breath:D
