Okay, so I'm new to the entire process of everything. I've had chronic shin splints for the past three years (this is where the muscle attached to your front shin bone starts to tear apart from it for whatever reason). When I first got them, I went to my doctor and he said there was nothing medically that they could do about it. I just needed to lower my sodium intake and increase water and potassium. Well, I've done this many times and they just don't go away. On top of this, I've had migraines for the past couple years as well, and anything over the counter just isn't helping anymore. I was taking Excedrine Migraine for quite some time, and my body has finally gotten used to it and nothing else I've tried works. Unfortunately, I don't have any insurance at the moment and no previous doctor records showing more than one visit for each issue. Though I know many people would believe these reasons, I seem to have a hard time finding a doctor to actually believe that I've got this pain! It's very frustrating and I'm starting to run out of temporary fixes. I've recently (over the past couple months) found that marijuana helps immensely with my migraines and dulls the pain of the shin splints, and have also heard of a medical marijuana card. I've been trying to research it, but I don't know who to trust and who'd be a scam! All I want is someone to listen and a way to reduce the damage I know I've done to my poor liver from all the asprin. If there is anyone who could help I would be eternally grateful! And thank you for listening to my short novel! lol

Give Dr. Gil a try. Dr. Gil's Clinic — MMJ assessment (http://www.drgilsclinic.com/) If it was up to me and many others, you'd just have to go to the store to pick some up. But, Dr. Gil is a real doctor who runs his own practice. Talk to him.

Thank you so very much! I've seen you post replies to quite a few people, but I've read so much lately that my eyes have started seeing anything and everything. lol Again, thank you for the information. Hopefully all works out well. Oh, and I agree that it should just be at the store. Kind of like the gluten free section! =)

There are quite a few places you can go for a consult with a healthcare professional about a possible authorization. Here are just a few...

Sentry Medical Group
866-607-0035

Dr. Rex Alvord
(253) 272-3056

CannaPath Medical
800-625-8519

Before you go for a consult, though, you might want to consider giving a co-op a call to see who they've found reputable, because there unfortunately are clinics/drs out there that are producing invalid authorizations.

Cobra Medical Group
253-565-2918

Sacred Plant Medicine
(sorry, I can't find a phone number for them...)

The easiest way if you're not rich is to go to one of the low income health clinics and complain about the pain. They'll prescribe you some sort of big pharma poison and just go back a couple times and say the drugs aren't working. That will lay the foundation of mainstream drugs not working. Then all you need is a copy of those chart notes and take to a doc in a box or who ever else will sign the authorization.

Dr. Alvord is FAR from a "doc in a box," and Sentry is a highly reputable authorization organization with great support services.

Again, calling reputable co-ops and asking them who they would recommend is a good idea. (Cobra Medical Group is not an authorization service.)
