Just wondering, where did the 2 oz limit come from? It seems like such an arbitrary number.

I assume the folks behind the amendment had to have known that the numbers don't really add up, but it just seems like it was chosen by someone with no familiarity with cultivation of the plant at all.

Maturing even one plant would almost certainly put even a weak grower over the limit. As for staying under with multiple plants grown properly, well, that's (as they say on the Simpsons) unpossible.

Probably the same place they came up with the 5 patient cap..The DEA

the crafters of the amendment didn't come up with the 5 patient limit. that was the 1284 douches.

I think the original amendment was written to sound reasonable to the average citizen (voter). CO is decrim for under 1 oz already, so twice that for a patient sounds okay.

I think copobo is right.
It's basically a number that wasn't too high or low that voters wouldn't get upset about. Same with the 6 plants. Nothing magical or scientific about it - just what your typical voter wouldn't get scared or upset about.
