HMO??s plan to deny access to pain medicine for MM use.

This is across the board with all HMO??s. Random drug testing will be ordered for all people who are on pain contracts. The say we are violating the federal pain contracts, we all have to sign to receive opiates to control pain. They will do this with random drug testing. All states even if there are MM laws protecting these patients. The portion of the contract that says no ??street drugs? is the one they say we are violating. In reality it is there response to the amount of abuse and deaths that have been attributed to opiates. Once again marijuana has been made to be the villain in this problem. Because if you use MM you must also be selling your prescription meds. They won??t be testing for alcohol even though many deaths have occurred from even small amounts of opiates and alcohol. Considering that murder, rape or even child molestation would result in no change in your meds. The high crime of smoking marijuana will be were they will draw the line. The exact people who are in the worst situations will be the ones denied access. Completely ignoring the wishes of the people in states with MM laws. My injury is the loss of three vertebra in a motorcycle accident my pain meds and MM are the difference between walking or being bed bound. It is the MM that allows me to not have to take as much opiates. They say the doctors are scared because the feds will come after there medical license. I am afraid that I will not walk again. The VA recently changed there policy but this has not changed the HMO??s plans. I will not go quietly as they would like.

You know, I know quite a few people who take prescription pain meds, many of which also have a medical card.

I really can't imagine them all suddenly being expected to take random drug tests. I can guarantee most would not stand for that.

Believe it and warn your friends its coming. And we cant even use any masking detox products because if you dont have the proper amount of the prescription drugs in your system they will take you of meds figuring that if the right amount is not in your system you must be diverting your meds. And the doctors could care less what your problem or condition is.

When your xrays look like humpty dumptys xray MM is not strong enough to control pain. For me even with both the pain is unbearable. MM has some pain relieve but for me it much of the relieve comes from the depression of my situation and the frustration of having to spend so much time flat in bed. MM works for me as a destraction from the constant pain. When you cut down a telephone pole on a motorcycle doing 90mph. You just can't be put back together.

This really sucks. Is that why my pharm is giving me trouble filling my darvocet script all of a sudden?

Is there any way to keep MM out of your test results?

Doesn't your doctor have to inform you when you are being tested (when you give them your urine or blood during routine exams)?

Some hmo's are having the pharmacy do the call on when urine tests are done. I plan to clean up and try and have doc give me urine test and maybe if they see a test has been done withen six months they wont bother. I dont know the name but there is one masking agent that is supposed to remove just plant based toxin. But you know if they dont find the proper amount of prescribed drug then they will also cut you off. My doctor doesnt recommend marijuana but he also didnt have much of a choice when they make it policy. I will be attending the Normal national conference in a couple of weeks and will be bringing up this point. I find it a horrible injustice that in my state we have a right to die law but cant get good relief for pain I guess HMO figures less chronic pain patients means they save money. I really dont have a problem being tested to see if the right amount of prescription drugs are in my system but dening me thous meds because I am also using MM to fight pain seems to mean I dont need prescription meds. Who in their right mind would want to take more opiates instead of MM. But then again they have denied MM for so long for suffering people its clear they dont consider it thier problem
