I was recently introduced by a cannabis prohibitionist to a Harvard study that claims to have found a "connection" between cannabis and heart attacks. Marijuana Said to Trigger Heart Attacks (http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2000/03.02/marijuana.html) I'm very weary of this particualr study claiming you are at a 4.8 times greater risk of a heart attack within an hour of using cannabis. I would think if this were the case, the prohibitionists would reference people who had actually died from "cannabis induced heart attacks" and plaster propaganda ads about it all over television and radio. Instead there are still 0 documented deaths from cannabis. Basically what I'm asking is, does anyone know of studies that have refuted this information? Thanks:jointsmile:

Yea yea yea. Your 10 times more likely to die of a heart attack in the first few minutes of sex. Same goes for smoking cigarettes. It's how healthy you are that counts. Since we don't know what will give us a heart attack (and I have had one) anything can. Stress is way more a factor. Any new drugs introduce to the body can kill us the first time.

Bogus report just saying what they paid to have it say. No documented deaths from cannabis.

Well, let's put it this way,

I was having chest pain, knew it was serious probably a blockage. I kept smoking thru the whole episode, tho I was careful about starting to cough and increase my heart workload.

I had a 98% blockage to the entire left side of my heart. I am still here, never had a full blown 'heart attack.'

Data can be made to say whatever the author wants it to show.

Here is something interesting... I had a stroke in Dec 2009 and have been monitoring my Blood pressure frequently lately particularly after a joint... I have 5 strains at my disposal and 3 have directly raised my BP for an hour or so after I smoked... What is strange and to my contentment is that 2 stains did not elevate my BP ...

My take on it is if they claim to be so sure that cannabis can increase the risks of heart attacks due to an elevated heart rate, then they should be able to show us countless cases of people who had fatal heart attacks caused by cannabis. But they can't even show us one case where cannabis was listed as the cause of death. If there was even one case gov't officials and special interest groups like alcohol companies would be quite eager to plaster the deceased person's face on billboards or tv ads. And yes, they can also manipulate the facts to say whatever they want.
