The problem is we sat on the sidelines during the beginning of WW2. We were not going to get involved in it till Japan decided to do something stupid. And there's still europeans that resent us for not getting involved sooner.
The deal is while we should help our allies when we can, our main focus should be on whats best for our own country. And that will always piss some other country off. We can not babysit the whole world.
