Alright, so I smoke pot for chronic pain and sleep problems (which, after 3 years is counter productive) and I recently came across a generous dude who grows his own and was sympathetic to my situation who is giving me a few grams a week for free. Now, as soon as I got it I noticed an extremely strong cedar smell on it, but it looked like it was actually not bad outdoor and had a good crystal count. I've been smoking it for 3 days and its harsh shit, but aside from that and a weird taste, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, OK buzz, nothing special, until last night when I woke up having a lot of trouble breathing (I have asthma and was living in a moldy house until very recently, and had one particularly bad allergy attack where my throat started to close up a few months ago). Anyways, eventually it passed and I was ok, but I'm wondering if this bud has ceder pollen all over it. Its very possible that its grown right underneath cedar bushes as they're very common here in the suburbs.

Anyone know if its possible for the pollen from a cedar bush/tree to end up all over your MJ plant?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it burns messed up aswell. Very slowly and never seems to fully turn to ash, just stays black and gets crispier. Smoking in a joint is hell, never stays lit and like I said, never fully turns to ash.

It's very possible for plant/tree pollen to get on a MJ plant. There is so much pollen at my house in the spring time from the trees that it turns the driveway yellow. Maybe try vaporizing or smoke it from a bong if your worried about the pollen as those will filter more of it out than a joint would.

Sounds to me like the harshness, and the fact that it chars but doesn't burn are related. It probably isn't dry enough to smoke. Dry it out a little more before your next smoke and see what happens.

EDIT: I was just thinking it would be cool if the cedar tree cross pollenated the mj plant and grew a 40 foot tall cedarijuana plant. Like how the Simpsons made the "Tomacco" plant from tabacco and tomatoes.

LOL, thats hysterical. That would be so awesome. I was thinking about something along the same lines, wondering if the pollens from say, I donno, a salvia plant or poppies were to resonate onto it, what would the buzz be like? Would it have any effect whatsoever? Probably not I suppose.

As far as it being too wet, good thinking but it's dry as a bone. That's why I'm thinking maybe the cedar pollen is really coated on thick and keeping it from burning down right.

Sounds like grasping at straws to me. You had an asthma issue for some reason, check with a doctor to find out why. Some species of cannabis bother my asthma more than others, but crap I cannot bitch I am fricking smoking...bad for asthma...so I CHOOSE to have issues and just deal with it.

See, I've been leaning towards that. The only reason I say it is cuz of the insanely strong cedar smell/taste. I've never been allergic to cedar in the past so it could be nothing.
