Okay, I just finished my first plant which was a Diesel-Ryder. I let the buds dry for 7 days hanging up and have begun the curing process. I decided to taste one of the small buds after only 2 days of curing. I know it is supposed to be longer, but I just wanted a small taste. At first it tasted good going down, but then had a a weird thick-piney-damp aftertaste. Hard to describe really...but it doesn't feel that wonderful on the throat. (I may have a bit of allergies coming on though too). Also I tasted again 3 days later, same results...hard to tell if it improved.

Will this go away with further curing or does anyone know what this may be from?

Hey man,
The first week of curing the bud affect potency because it evenly removes the moisture in the bud, allowing all of the THC to be psychoactive. You need to be patient and give it some time, it will even out and im sure it will be smooth to smoke. It is hell to sit around staring at jars for weeks everyday, knowing that you cant smoke em! Gotta be patience, and it will pay off

If you did not flush for at least the final week of flower, there is a nutrient build-up in your buds

Yeah, I hope patience is all it is. I flushed 1 time and then just water the rest of the way for 2 weeks.

If properly flushed, then no worries. With some more curring the smoke will mellow out in taste. :hippy:

Does it kind of taste like diesel fuel ?

I tried what was suppose to be NYC diesel had a fuel taste but if you didn't grow it who knows.

curing takes alot longer then 2 weeks , try 3 weeks to a month on drying screens in a cool dark place where no light can penatrate , and then off into a mason jar for another 2 or 3 months , best god dam tasting buds you will ever smoke trust me

Thanks for the responses. I've tucked the bud away and open the jars 3mins or so every 12 hours. Since this was my first time to grow, I am just nervous I screwed up somewhere. If anything I may of not flushed properly. After reading about it a bit more I didn't use enough water to flush. I have a 3 gallon square pot and I probably only flushed it with 4 gallons of water. However, I used fox farm ocean blend soil and only added a small amount of nutes 3 times. So it shouldn't have had too much nute buildup. But after flushing that one time it was straight water for 2-3 weeks.

I think patience will be the key.

Something interesting though. My 2nd plant I have going, doesn't look anything like the beginning of my first. It looks like the pictures I have seen of Diesel-Ryder. My first plant branched out and had much smaller leaves, but was obviously still an auto-flower. Got my seeds from Attitude, not sure if this is common or not.
