hello everyone:) i'm getting ready to try my first cloning. does it matter how many cfl i use for fresh clone's? i heard to much lighting can hurt or is my source retarted? lol.. basically whats a ideal wattage should i use for about 4 cuttings? the room is 2' wide by 42'' long and 8' high..
thanks

i think around 250 or 260 CFLs would be a few to many...CFLs are weak so i wouldent worry about over kill on 4 clones..unles you have like 10 or 12 extra sockets laying around..then id think twice but the plant they came from...how many lights was it used to? if it looks like to many lights then it probably is...then all you do is move the CFLs a bit further away and its like they are almost gone, problem solved...

ok dude please do not take my answer very seriously. i just have a grudge with CFLs. i can never seem to have enough...i want a small portion of the sun in my closet. then i will be happy...i will share, you can have a piece for your clones.

While the clones are rooting they don't need much light at all in terms of lumens. See here: Leaf's cloning method (http://cannabis.com/growing/cloning-leaf-s-cloning-method.html)

I don't think it really matters. The example I gave uses a 20w fluoro, probably in the 6500K range. There are more cloning examples in the first link in my sig. One guy just puts them on the window sill out of direct sunlight or 7 ft. away from a 100w incandescent while rooting. Don't worry about the light as much as getting them to root. Too much light will make it harder to root.

I use two 20w T12s to root my clones and germinate seeds.

40watts

11,700 Kelvin

1,950 Lumens

11,700? do you mean 1,170?

5850 Kelvin x2. So whatever that is.

dont think it works like that. lumens or kelvin, you cant just add them togeather...lumens is brightness, think about a room with a light on inside with the door open just a crack(you are standing outside) now add 1 more light of the same spec....the light is not 2x as bright comeing thru the crack in the door...it is brighter but not 2x so you will have more lumens but you cant simply add them all up. i could be wrong but i know kelvin dosen't work like that either. if it did i would have 78,000k for veg and thats un real. a light meater is the only real way to determine your lumens an for kelvin idk unless you have only 1 light or multipul of the same exact light then it would just be 1x whatever is on the box
