people always saying "why don't u go search google for the answer or wutever? wuts the point of this board? to help ppl out when they have questions why do ppl cut up other ppl for asking a question that someone on the board might be able to answer. thats why most ppl post on this website because they have a question. so wut does it help when u tell them to go search on google.someone else might be able to answer it better or quicker
i don't kno if i'm just rambling but it seems fucked up to me

yeah people told me that kind of thing plenty of times! If you bother to respond, why waste the time just sending someone around in circles? As the late Chris Farley would say "For the love of God, YOU CRUEL HEARTLESS BASTARDS! JUST ANSWER THE DAMNED QUESTION!" Or something like that! PEACE

wuts the point of this board?
Maybe you should do a google search instead of posting a new thread with each idea that comes into your head..
Oh, I only kid.. But seriously, we dont need 300 threads about what the difference between Indica and Sativa is. I agree that people tend to jump on n00bs a little early at time, but most of the time its deserved.

Mainly its the people who are regulars here. I am starting to consider myself a regular, and when I see a the same fuckin' post every week, it does begin to annoy you.
I am a 'newish' grower, and I learned everything by either my growers handbook or googling or searching on various forums. When I see a post that says, "I have a seed that I planted like 4 days ago, when can I smoke it???!"
Very annoying. Everything you want to know (about *anything*) can be found on google, which is the exact reason why people say google it. If you don't understand the term 'google', then you must not know how valueable that resource is. It is quick, easy, doesn't bitch, reliable and better than any other search engine. google.com is my homepage.
There is something to that newfangled google.com, i *promise* you.

Why should we waste our time explaining the same shit over and over again. Someone can take 5 minutes out of their own day, type what they need in google and get the info they seek. Why should we take the time to answer a question that has been asked thousands of times when the thread starter was simply to lazy to look for it on his/her own?
It is going to happen from newer members, I was quilty of it. Eventually after being told a few times I started using google. Others should use it as well.

I only search Yahoo! for almost the same answers, but it actually is a better search engine.
While Google has a ton of money and the most complex algorithms, Yahoo has all news related items, an unbelievable Yahoo! answers page, and all fantasy sports. Not to mention that they have a much better image search.

I will always give as good an answer as I can as I too am of the opinion that the whole point of CC is to share knowledge.
If I don't know the answer I will direct the asker to the stickies as they usualy cover most subjects.
I find the "just google it" attitude to be the least helpful for people who wish to be educated by the older and (most of the time) wiser heads of CC.
If you can't give a simple answer without being an arse on a forum who's sole purpose is education then that's pretty bad IMO.

Then ask away! We are always delighted to help, especially when someone seems delighted to learn.

A little bit of homework on your part will go a long way... The point being that if every noob came in here and asked the same questions without even thinking about doing a little research first, it gets real tiresome answering the same questions multiple times a day, day in and day out.
I frequent other forums that have the same problems... people just drop in and expect the pros to spoon feed them the same info hundreds of times a month(sometimes weekly), without any thought to doing a simple search, or if they are even capable of performing the task they are asking about without hurting themselves or somebody else.
Not trying to be mean or ugly here, just stating simple facts.

give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats EVERY day.
to the noob's, for every 'google it' you get there are probably at least 50 other people that see your post and just ignore it.
be greatful that at least someone bothered to say anything in response to your first grade question.
if you really want to grow, read the FAQ, then, as Stinky says, when you ask a question, it will be a good question, a relavent question, a question that demonstrates your willingness to do SOME of the work on your own.
under those circumstances there are dozens of people here willing to answer your questions.

why boycott THE MOST useful website on the internet? The whole concept of google is to find answers for you, kinda defeats it's purpose if you don't ask it something

Ha ha! This thread is hillarious! The guy asks his question in 2004, and gets one response the next day. Then it's THREE YEARS later someone else chimes in with a pointless post about, "I hate Google." Holy crap! I'm sure by that point the guy had either finally decided to just "Google it," or had died of boredom and old age waiting for his answer. And then a year after that SpaceToker picks it up again with, "Yeah, and with Scroogle...." as if the conversation is still going on!
It's like a stoner who is so wasted that he zones out in the middle of a conversation about cereal, and two hours later, when everyone is talking about who Obama should pick for VP, he jumps in with, "Yeah, Fruitloops are good."

first, if you hate google its because you dont know how to use it. And you may say that you know how to use it, you actually use it quite often and that i dont know what im talking about, but google is very useful, and a lot of people dont know how to use it. I can't explain right now how to properly use google, in which i can actually find pretty much everything, because it is a rather intensive process for me to undergo at this point in time.
and also, i agree that just telling someone to google it is lame, stupid, annoying.
i also agree that a post being repeated millions of time is also lame, stupid, annoying.
but here it is plain and simple. Everyones done it at some point in time, for some reason or another, you've done it. Also, pretty much everyone had been ignored, or told to google it, very few dont have to worry about that happening to them. the real time it gets tiring is when you have rather current threads about the same topic, i would say older than 2 months on a board such as CC.com is considered and old thread, so some people want the newest information they can get, at the same time, you can use google for more than just searching the CC.com forums for your answer so it is possibly one of the best resources.
google-ing for threads is how a person found a 4 year old thread, so fear not, for all is not lost. funny the irony in that, i would atleast hope they didnt actually hit the next page button enough times to go back 4 years.

I tend to agree with Psychocat! As a relative noobie, I really depend on your descretion and treating me with kind 'gloves.'
Now, I read a thread and realize, there are 2 or 3 of the same things, but do not know how to direct a person to the correct thread (need to learn more). Even the rules, regs and sticky's don't cover everything. It takes a lot of reading to learn how to use google without going in circles. I ask a question and some kind souls have given me direct answers or a click to the right area of 'google' and article that suites me (instead of me reading tons of stuff that doesn't relate to me and then I can get back to can. com to learn more of what I need to be; thus, teaching me to use 'google' at the same time.
The ones that do not know how, skip it or give a quip to hurt someone's feelings and do not come back. It takes time to get to learn how to use a web site like this, especially if it is the only one you have ever used. So, to you patient ones, thank you very much, you rock! those that skipped, instead of ranted, thank you. and the ones that politely told me the rules--you rock! I sure hope I don't break any more rules. I use this site to learn and along the way get entertained, as well--for a person pretty much home bound, it means a lot to me! Thank you all! Certainly do enjoy and respect each and every opinion you send!
When a question looks redundant or 'haywire' I check to see how new the person is, or computer illiterate they are; as part of how I would address it! If I had the PC skills so many of you have, It'd be easy to send the link and let them look.
What gets me, is; when they have been sent the link and can't friggin find it! It is like they never read or looked up your advice. NOW, that is what really gets me. Most people here are polite and when told the rules or whatever, politely dismiss and go to the appropriate place, when they can figure it out!
I do appreciate all of you that have helped and nurtured me along in using the site (as this is the only one web site I use, (my only interest with a P.C. anyway) And the rest of you, sorry I pissed you off, but guess you needed someone to get pissed off at on that day with anyway, so glad to be of help and hope I won't be so much in the future!
Overall, I thank so many of your kind generous help and guidance. You are truly one of a kind and I feel like a family of friends here. It is o.k. to voice your opionion and move on, without being threatened, but educated! Thanks to all for helping me! P.R.
