im certain this has been covered 1000 times...but i just cant find specific answers soo....
I accidentally totally fried a DWC mother bucket (with three strains in it lol)
one fried first, and the other two are about 2 days behind it.
Headband fried first, Green Cush fried second, and BDream was 3rd...separated by about 2 days each. Dream is just showing signs...headband is devastated. cush looks like headband did 2 days ago.
i have 2 of these buckets, with mixed strains. all cuttings will go into rockwool blocks, and be separate strains. segregation is key... i know that now. sigh...
Well... i burnt the ish out of it .. everything looks burnt/ rusty/dry/black
coulda been a number of things...
my nutrients:
nonorganic thrivealive b
GH maxigrow
H&G roots excelurator
neem oil (that luckily is just there in case)
the equip
3.5 gal black bucket
8inch bucket lid basket pot
smallest pump from hydro store... home made drip ring (terrible idea with maxigrow,,it cakes.
$11 dual airpump with a redbullcan size airstones in each bucket (1stone per)
i hate hate hate the maxigrow..but it was expensive and i cant bring myself to throw it away... i dont like dry nutes anymore.
i guess id like to know what the best situation is. i will be trying to recover the plants, and likely take one more large round of cuttings, and then try to flower whats left. just to get rid of the buckets. i have an aeroponic system thats being fed by these mothers. slowly but surely, i want to evolve away from individual dwc's, i find them too dificult to maintain.
so heres what i did:
i locked the buckets in place about 5 days ago...
they are closed system buckets, i knew this was a problem, i just didnt have all the parts.
when i noticed burn, i pruned the badly damaged leafs, and tapped the bucket.
i ran a hose to an external rez.
i then began flushing. i sent about 10 gallons quickly through the rockwool/hydroten to the rez i stopped once the water appeared to lose its brown (thrive alive leaves a lotta brown stuff around..)
i SHOULD have checked ppm and ph of my first dump, and recoreded every gallon... but i didnt... i will say, that after adding 4gal of 6.0ph water the ph was coming out 4.9. i diluted it pretty well, and ph was still low
i credit maxigrow for the ph problem.. it brings SF tap water to 3.5 with very little powder.
i think i am releasing more and more maxigrow as i flush... probably making the problem worse... should i just continue to flush until there is no shift at a slightly higher ph... i.e. 6.7ish, until it comes out constant 6.7 (i.e. 50 gallons of ph adjusted water later)
Pruning... should i prune? i mean.. the plants are fried.
PH... should i try to shift PH out of the optimal nitrogen absorption range?
again... im certain this has been covered...but i couldnt search my exact answer. hopefully, this post could serve the greater community if all posts try to include keywords.
heres some i came up with:
general hydroponics, house and garden, accelerator, root, scrog, lst, hst, nutrient, nitrogen, burn, rust, rusty, spots, spotty, leaf, leave, leaf curl
If this board will let me, i will keep this post current, and will detail optimal circumstance for devastating DWC nute burn.
