as of August 1st, if you are a medical marijuana patient and you have a personal caregiver and it is not a medical marijuana center, then you must submit a new "Change of Caregiver" form and it needs to be done by ASAP to be considered a valid patient, so this weekend, Sunday August 1, 2010, Mile High NORML and Colorad...o NORML are hosting a ??Find a Primary Medical Marijuana Center? party. The event will be held at Casselman??s bar, 2620 Walnut Street in Denver, from 2 pm. ?? 7pm. All Medical Marijuana Centers are invited to set up booths and distribute information about their services. All Colorado Medical marijuana patients are invited to come meet different Medical Marijuana Centers and find out what services and the different products each provides. There is no charge for this event. This is for sharing of information only. There will not be any medical marijuana distribution at this event. Big Thanks to Kumin Sommers LLP and Casselman??s for providing the funding for this FREE event
This was posted by mile high norml on the facebook page this am. I have not read anything about having to designate / re- deisignate caregivers by August 1, 2010. Anybody else know of this crap?

So if someone has their red card with a non-MMC primary caregiver, they are breaking the law after august first if they don't file new paperwork?

That's what my question is. I don't know if this is bullshit to get patients to quit their caregivers or what but like I said, I have not read / nor heard about this before.

there is something about this that doesn't smell right. with the clusterf%#k of paperwork still to be processed at the CDPHE, having thousands of new caregiver forms to reprocess doesn't make sense.:wtf:

How much of what government does makes any sense?

But it makes sense if you want to bust someone for pot.
If this is true, then every patient in this scenario would be out of compliance, so you can't use A20 as an affirmative defense. I don't think people on this site realize that A20 doesn't make pot legal, it only provides an affirmative defense if charged with a related crime. It doesn't legalize anything, as I understand it.

Here's the deal: under the new paperwork, you can designate a CG or MMC as your primary, yourself or yourself and a CG or MMC. All of the patients that MMC's signed up as a primary caregiver need to change to a primary center. These are the numbers that the 1-300, 301-500 and 501+ deal with.
If you had previously registered someone as your caregiver, that's still valid. Next time they renew, they'll simply have the option of having a caregiver that grows for them AND growing for themselves. If they want that right now, arguably they need to fill out a change of caregiver/center form. I've also heard that you can grow and have a caregiver with an affirmative defense, but that's become somewhat irrelevant.

Releaf, I agree with you there, but the statement that is posted on FB that says " you must submit a new caregiver form asap to be considered a valid patient" is bogus as I see it. I have not read that anywhere and I think that is information that is misleading to many patients in order to get them to designate a Center as their caregiver. I thought NORML chapters would be more informed thannthat. If I am wrong than I apologize, but I still have not read this " requirement " anywhere and I feel it is a ruse to get patients under the umbrella of a MMC, while that is fine, patients sure have that choice, the post makes it sound as if it is required, and that my friend does not appear to be the truth.

looks to me like this law firm is trying to gather some patients for their clients and mile high normal hasn't bothered to do some fact checking.
WFT would mile high normal post such a thing without the info to back it up?

Agreed. I think it's a way to get people back with centers who had previously registered them as a caregiver, since that paperwork is no longer valid. Saying you need that to be a valid patient is something I haven't heard ANYTHING on.
