View Full Version : identifiying pest atack and what to use?

Hi all just wondered if anyone could identify what's atacking my plant and what is best to use? gettting a bit worried now!:) Ive added a picture of my gooden but the other is not so good:mad:

I am not sure Im a newbee but it looks like caterpillers. I am going to kept watching this theard to see what the answer is.:stoned:

you might have spider mites, they are very tiny, almost microscopic, and leave small white spots like you show in the photos where they suck on the leaves. Spider mites can leave a web type material, look very close to leaf petioles and and where leaflets separate from the petiole for whitish webby stuff. Spider mites you might see as tiny black or red specks especially on the undersides of leaves, a hand lens will show them as tiny arachnids. Use permethrin or some other low toxicity insecticide, or try insecticidal soap if you insist on organic cures (not as effective)

Cheers for your help people, i have discovered that this damage has been caused by flea beatles,and i need a certain chemical spray called provado, its defo not spidermite coz i had that with another plant, and that is more like yellow and brown spots on the plants,anyway if anyone has these problems then i have hered that provado contolls both, but remember not to spray 2 near harvest, cheers!:thumbsup:

I had spider mites that did the same thing to a few of my plants. I take the insides of cigars, boil them in water, like a box of 5 or 6 and spray the crap out of them with the mix it works great and it's cheap.:)

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep an eye on my plant for these pests!
What could be other options for a pest killer for our precious babies?
