Hey,
I wouldn't sweat the extra light, as long as you are otherwise ensuring total darkness one single mishap should not ruin anything. If it happens too often though it can and will mess up your plants turning them hermie or even almost completely male.

Oh, and regarding the light, I don't think you can use green light with the roots since they are white/brown. The reason green works with the plant is, I believe, because the plant is green itself.
Also, if you are going in and out alot, even with a green light, you're allowing potential other light to come in as well, and, your green light may not be the exact right wavelength. Doing this often is asking for trouble, I think most growers view the green light as a kind of last resort when you absolutely have to get in the grow.

Get a 50 or 100x scope and do a proper flush before harvest date

My best tip is don't cut too early. For best quality and yield spend $10 at Radioshack on a little magnifier so you can see the color of the resin change as the buds mature. The tiny mushroom shaped resin trichs go from clear to milky to amber over time. Generally most people cut when around 15% have turned amber.
Oh, and don't expect to cut at 8 weeks just because your strain calls for that. Small variances in light, nutes, PH, etc. mean that you may have to go longer. But again, it's worth it.
Patience is a Virtue, especially with Mary Jane

i am looking more for tips on the curing and brown bag thing...basicly chop, trim, place in bag, place in jar...then smoke?
i know they are close but no where near ready. im thinking 2 more weeks for the large ones and 4 more weeks for the runts..i found a hermie this morning so it got the ax..almost like i knew that was comeing....so she is hanging upside down in a dry cool dark closet so back to the waiting game..i want to go buy 10 10,000 watt HPS lights and get this over with
i will go get that microscope next week
eye candy..this is a CFL grow..dont think i will use CFL next time

Oh, yeah you pretty much got the right idea with the cutting/drying/curing thing.
That hermie you mentioned is probably from light pollution ......as you probably know..... but it would have taken more than once to turn it....
