It is part of the narrative. The strategy is becoming pretty plain to see. It is a continuation of the Southern Strategy a la Willie Horton. It is an effort to gin up feelings of victimization among poor and middle class whites - misplaced feelings of anger to be sure as they should be angry at the upper class for stealing their present and future. Instead, the noise machine is attempting to harness and divert this anger by driving it through the spin machine of racial victimization. It's an amazing thing to watch. I'm wondering if Independents will fall for it. I bet they will in Texas.

The Tea Party, to me, is a built from the ground up political movement that voices the traditional American beliefs that have been shouted down and drowned out by the liberal slant of the media.
I'm an Independent. I disagree with the Tea Party on a few things, agree with them on most. I like what they're doing. They're tired of big government, big taxes, and big crybabies sucking off the taxpayers because they're lives didn't turn out the way they thought it would.
This is America. More power to them.

You really should do some reading. The Tea Part was not "built from the ground up." Although they would like you to think they are some spontaneous outburst of populist anger, in reality the Tea Party was a carefully orchestrated PR AstroTurf campaign funded by and in the service of some of the most right wing elements in the Republican party. Read this background document that appeared in Playboy for a detailed expose on the origins of the "movement."
