i'm pretty new to this.when i was young you could throw a seed in dirt and never have a problem and no chemicals were added.i'm in northern ca. my plants are in buckets with miracle grow soil, only the one plant is having this problem, the others only got this very little.they were doing fine untill we had a 4 day spell of 100 degree temps, this is when they started curling and browning,i moved them out of the heat and only the one still has issue's.the leave's are very skinny, curling up,brown and some lower leaves are drooping downward.the tops are still coming out green but not growing very good and look a little deformed.i was told it was over watering so i stopped and in 3 days they began to droop,i watered and they perked right back up.was this maybe the use of miracle grow mix combined with the heat? i'd like to save the bad one if possible, its nearly bud time here and i'm not set up for indoor growing.i hope this is enough information for anyone that can help.what happend to seed dirt water and sun.....please help save this plant....thanks anyone.

Hi mikel988,
You have indeed experienced a bit of overwatering. The hotter your roots get the less oxygen they get, this leads to root rot which is really what 'overwatering' is, or becomes if not dealt with immediately. If your summers get hot forget about growing above the ground, instead bury your container in the ground so it stays cool from the surrounding soil. If that's not an option then use the biggest pot you can and keep the pot shaded at all times, and you might make it through. Also make sure your soil mix is very airy, a heavy wet soil is certain death in hot weather. And don't place the pot on a hard heat conductive surface, better to stand it on some soil. But again, you really should bury your pot in the ground. Oh, and your buckets do have draining holes on the bottom and the water can escape, right? If not, get it done ASAP.
I hope you beat the heat!

.7) Specific brand and type of soil, (coco, peat based soilless...) and anything you've added to it. (vermiculite, perlite, worm castings...) miracle grow potting soil
Your nutrients and water:
10) Source of water? (tap, bottled or filtered) What's it's ph before adjusting? tap water with occasional miracal grow mixed in.
The nutrients in MG soil usually expires (runs-out) at 6-8 weeks. If it's been about that long, start with regular 1/2 dose applications of your MG nutrients.
Double-check the nutrients for EXACT feeding instructions (with MG, it's usually a 10 to 14 day feeding schedule listed) You'll have to adjust your dilution rate, and watch the ladies for results.
Might want to chack the "Dealing With Heat Issues" thread in my signature. Tiz mainly for indoor grows, but some of the info is good for outdoors.
