weird looking whitish stem thingies

ok a few months ago i was given a 6 month old plant, to my surprise it was very short root bound stubby little bastard, but one thing that struck me were these little sort of white root things, at first the plant showed no progress in growing at all. So i vegged it with my two train wrecks. month ltr still no results as my train wrecks grew that stubby little bastard stayed the same, until this morning, now I have at least 5 inches in new growth its bushier and those god damn white root thing are shooting all out of it. I need tome advise, i need to know if i'm dealing with a male or female, I also have pics but neither my iphone nor the camera I have can take quality pics.

Looks like pistles to me,.... They are flowers, You want those!

Probably the plant you were given was in flowering so it was shocked and stressed as it came back into a vegetative light thus the lack of growth for so long.


One question,.... What's your level of growing experience?

100% noob, but this is what I have, I have a 400 watt ballast hps system, I'm using fox farm grow big, tiger bllom, and for experements big bloom, I also have 2 54 watt flourescent grw lights still trying to figure out should I put them in there also, I have pro mix, and perlite. my closet is 4'5x3x10 I'm growing 2 train wrecks and 1 that was given to me and 3 bagseed of some nice stuff my parents are smoking. i've dumped a grand in this so far and I like growing it so far.

Poke around on this site and do some reading,.... if you have questions ask em.

I'd recommend that you familiarize yourself with the signs of sex on your plants and how to ID male/female parts before they bloom, a single male flower will wreck your harvest. Mainly watch your seed grown plants for male sacks.

Your "Gift" plant is female, which you want, tho reverting her to veg is a real hardcore stress, and could potentially cause her to Herm, (grow both male and female parts in the same flower!) :eek: :(

Lighting;

400w is more than enough for that size space, and the floro's would only be needed as side lighting to get more light on the bottom if you want to grow tree's.

Your lights should be on a timer with 18 hours on 6 hours off for vegetative growth, and 12/12 for flowering. Make ABSOLUTELY certain that there's no light bleed into your closet when the lights are off.


Temps should be between 70-80* and not flux more than +- 10*

Humidity should be 50-60% veg, 40-50% flowering or lower if possible to prevent mold.
