]ok this may be a stupid question but how else should i find out...why cant a person use lets say six or so 150w floodlight....is it the wrong kind of light...not enough lumes...what about the standard halogen work lights..can someone please explain lighting..in basic english please...

wrong type of light, it doesnt have the correct spectrum for the plants.

and too much heat, use metal halide or high pressure sodium, ive also heard good reports on some floros

M-man is right.
High pressure sodium or metal halides are better. There are specialty lamps for either of them that give some of both red and blue spectrums, but plain hps or mh lamps will do.
Spiral flourescents in small conical aluminum reflectors will work great on small groups of clones, but if you are going/growing for the big time then 4 ft. or 8 ft. flourescent fixtures are probably best.

ok so you can use like 4 foot shop light to grow and flower...do they work as good as the hps and mh....how many flouros would be the same as lets say a 400w mh hps setup thanx

I would use the flourescents for starting seedlings and clones, MH and HPS for vegging and flowering, respectively.
Flourescents can be used for everything, but it's not the best.
