I'm putting the finishing touches on my grow tables. The veg table which is the middle table is the one I am asking about. For reference the T5 fixtures themselves are T5 and are hollow. The silver T5 HO ballast is forward, fixed to the roof of the top table. The question: do you think I even need to bother with the chain on the fixtures?

The middle table has floods to 4 inches deep and there is about 12-14" of total ceiling in that space. If I fixed the lights to the top of the flood table and removed the chains entirely then at most the light would travel is about 1 foot. Do you think I could get away with just fixing the lights to the ceiling? I could install more to flood the room still further with more lumens, I just want it to be clean and not have a bunch of wires and chain everywhere.

I was planning to put 4 mothers on the right side of this middle table and then use the rest of the space for clones. Given that some of my plants will be tall right off the bat, I don't even think I need the chains. I may have the room for 3' bulbs fixed and use these 2' wherever I can. Thoughts?

I don't have any expertise to lend, but I've got to tell you nice work and nice setup!

So I do indeed have 3' of space across the top. I could go gang busters when the wife isn't looking and line the entire ceiling with 3' T5HO's and then run these 2 footers along the back wall or something. After measuring I believe that from the tops of the buckets to the bottoms of the lamps would be at about 11"s. Should I go ahead and afix to the ceiling?

I was going to wait to take a full on portfolio of everything I did and how I did it, once I finished. I still need to put another few hours into it to complete everything. Tents are a much more effective and easy way to go I now discover.
