Aloha gentlemen,
Been in your shoes. Drs on Oahu are tight. My friend from Oahu (migranes)and I (car wreck) flew to the Big Island. Easy as pie there. Iceberg. Last 4 letters of that word is the doc to go to.
Call him, make a appt. Well worth taking a day off, jumping a flight to Kona and renting a car for the drive to Hawi. Cover your ass for him. Take your medical records and pills. Don't worry, Its not like he is going to look at them. :D He does dig scars though. And he would rather you smoke than become hooked on opiates.
Will cost you an extra $300 to go the Big Island route. Money very well spent.
Be ready to tell the state where they will be growing. Changing a card takes forever so have your shit together before you see the Doc.
Cards issued on Big Island are good on Oahu. Go the patient/caregiver route. Then you can grow for someone else if you wish to. Do like I did, Take the old lady too. If you have a safe place to grow on Oahu (Good luck with that!) You AND the ball and chain can grow 7 for you, and another 7 for your patient and wife can grow 7 for her and another 7 for another patient. Thats 28 plants total. Hell, if you want to go nuts, if another patient lives at your house, take them too and theres' another 7 and 7.
Pull up Hawaii MMJ state law. Read it well. There are GIANT holes in it. Exploit them. Their definition of a mature plant is a joke and can be pushed so far it is uninforceable. Remember the law was written by a bunch of people that never smoked a joint in their lives.
After you get your cards, please stick around this board. Start a log. We need more locals here. Gotta show the mainland indoor guys how it is done :wtf:

Maui no ka oi... Wouldn't live on Oahu if you paid me to... Too many rats in that cage.
It is legit. Follow my footsteps. Like I followed my friend that first took me over. I've been legal for less than a year. Got some trees in the backyard. click the link at the bottom of the page and see for yourself. Would you do that if you were worried about hiding from Green Harvest?

Guess I am soooo lucky living on the BI. Didn't know Oahu docs make such a big deal.
But what about the re-certification if you saw the doc on the BI? Don't you have to see the same doc a year later for a renewal? Every year have another plane trip for you?
Just asking cause I don't know.

cannamed is great. Just remember you can only get the card for your pain not your anxiety.

Aloha,
Don't waste your money flying into Oahu. Fly into Hilo on the Big Island. I just went to see my Dr. yesterday and got my card. $200.00. Includes full examination. IM or email me for the information and I will gladly give it to you.

hey Michael I am moving back to Hawaii for this very reason. I lived there as a child (Big Island) and was there for several months in 2005.
I am tired of hiding my treatment for anxiety and insomnia. Would like to get some info as well, so I will stay search and watch this thread for any help.
Thanks

I'm a recent transplant to the Big Island with a neuromuscular disorder. How long do I have to reside here to claim HI residency?
Also, does anyone know a good place to find a Vapor Bros. vaporizer on the Big Island?

Register to vote, Get a Hawaii state ID, or Change your drivers licence, all are proof of residency. It's that simple.

Dr Webb comes over from Big Island once every three months? He is by far the easiest. He will be in Haiku.
There is one more Dr in Pukalani that will also give you a card, I forgot his name, but he is harder to get the card from. If you need his name I can make a couple of calls and get it for you. He is located Makawao side next to the First Hawaiian Bank in Pukalani.
Just remembered...Dr Mastroiani. Not sure of the spelling.
Good Luck

I was just about to schedule a consultation to start the ball rolling for a card. Then I read this:
Why is Hawaii County Arresting Medical Marijuana Patients? | Hawai`i News Daily (http://hawaiinewsdaily.com/2010/11/26/why-is-hawaii-county-arresting-medical-marijuana-patients/)
It made me wonder if getting a card might actually target me for arrest rather than protect me.
Thoughts?

Many years ago the BI passed a voter initative making prosicution of MJ offences the lowest legal priority. The county refused to pony up money for the green harvest, and it became common knowledge that the green harvest would leave grows of 24 plants alone on private land.
For many years green harvest left smaller grows alone. Now it appears the state...not the county... is disegarding the previous unwritten rule.
Also, remember we are in the final days of the Lingle Administration. Just like her to do something like this at the end of her career.
Just some info on green harvest. It is a task force made from officers from the four counties, maybe a sheriff or two, and cops from DLNR...game wardens. So you have cops from 4 counties, and the state, in all but one non dedicated chopper. The DEA also has a single chopper.
Green harvest is state funded. Mostly the money comes from the feds to the state. They are not obligated to leave those 24 plant grows alone. State law, they're fair game. They do have to leave grows of 7 alone. That be the law. That's a medical grow.
So the final gasps of the Lingle administration, the bitch told her dogs to get one last cheap shot in at a county that has been tweaking her nose. Sure, some people get hurt, but if they were medical grows, they were exceding their plant count....big time.
As for the transporting noise...we are islands! If you don't have a big boat (and that's illegal too) the only way to take your medicine interisland is by plane...enter TSA and all that other fun stuff. So unlike other MMJ states there is no legal way to take your MMJ with you county to county. There is something very unfair about that. Expect the courts to rule on that soon.
The only Legal way to grow 28 plants to have both you and your wife become both patients, and be caregivers to two other patients. Four seperate cards, numbers, all in groups of seven.
We have a new governor. A Liberal Democrat....the state senate has one Republican...one. I expect things to change here fast...but we will see.
So that's why hawaii county is arresting MMJ patients. They got complacent and overplanted.
Last year I took it to the limit, but did not cross the too many plant line. They flew 5 green harvests in that time. Four times they sat over my house, counting plants. I made it real easy for them to do. Then they went away. Had a decent year too.

Thanks much for the info, Haole! That sort of puts it in perspective.
Glad you had a good year!
Any feedback on a Dr. Baiko (Hilo, Pahoa and Ocean View locations apparently)?

Hello all. Look i have state insurience through kaiser p. so i can only see kaiser docs. o live on the island of oahu and i always have these really bad migrains because of my eye which is lazy and off center, and im adhd. i dont know what to say or do to get my card. and the biggest problem is that i dont know what doctor within kaiser will be the best bet for getting the recomendation i need for the card. here is my question. oes anyone know of a doctor within kaiser quest who would be more likely to write the recomendation? also what is the best approach for this? iv smoked marijuana for a while now and it helps everything. I sleep and get to sleep easier, i eat when i need to, and i just feel alaround better. so i just want to finally be able to do this legally but just moved here not to long ago. Any help is most appreciated.:D

Kaiser plan people are SOL. That means shit out of luck. You will have to ask for your records. Then go to a private doctor. And you get to fork out a couple of hunderd bucks.
Kaiser Docs don't write MMJ perscriptions. I shy away from blanket statements. But if anyone has a card from Kaiser I have not heard of it.

what about HMSA my wife has them and she has these acute lumbar spasms all the time. are their any docs that will write a recomendation within hmsa????????????

on your plan, HMSA will cover your bill on some of the higher level plans, but I wouldn't expect your primary care Dr to give you a rec.
You need to go to or be recomended to go to a MMJ dr. Some plans do cover the cost. Wifey could get HMSA to pay for her card, but she doesn't want her primary to know, so she pays cash.
Unless you want to grow outdoors, I wouldn't sweat the card. Indoors is easy to hide, and cops here...unless you give them shit... don't want to waste time on small amounts.
Unless you are growing your own, card or no card, you're still buying off the illegal market.
If it makes that much difference to you go to a Dr on Big Island. Spend the cash and do it the easy way.

PB, should be able to get it for "insomnia", anxiety and pain! Try calling a mmj req. Doctor's office! I doubt you are going to have a problem. Expect someone from HI will weigh in. Bump your original thread! Good luck, pr
