Please help!

If anyone one out there could help please do. I haver 2 indica strains growing under 7 flouro bulbs all diff types, 4 hanging vertiaclly in a squre pattern in my closet and 3 hangin over top that have lots of room to adjust. My plants look pretty good considering this is only my 2nd time growing one of them is 20 inch tall its my profile pic and the other is 16in. Tall becuz I topped it at 7in they are both about a week from being 2 months old. I hv done extinuating research for about a year and a half . I hd a acidic problem(over-fert) but I'm pretty sure I'm getting it under control(flushing, adding pulverized lime and eggshells added today). I harvest 3 very small weak plants last year. And they actually turned out to be good smoke. My question that is still bothering me is when to flower? I know I can anytime obvioulsy. I've been waiting until I got my ph back up. Can any one give me some good advice as to know when is primetime and if I've waited to long????

If it was me, for right now, I'd cut the lowest branches off of each plant cause the lowest branches won't produce much bud for lack of light and use the tips of those branches for clones. Then wait at least a week for the plant to recoup from the stress, and then move them over to bud stage.

Most plants are ready to flower when they are 12 inches tall and/or about a month old. There isn't really a point when its been too long as long as your plant is healthy. Like the last reply said you definitly wanna make sure they recooperate and look healthy before you start flowering them. Some plants have been in the vegative stage for several years. 12 inches is the soonest you can flower them which means the sooner you'll have your shit...I would say that's the best time to start flowering. Of course everyone has a different way of doing shit. If you wanna let them get 2 ft tall before you flower then do it, but if they keep getting optimal nutrients, theres a good chance that plants gonna end up taller than you. Do you really wanna have to look up into your lights to trim and check the buds for ripening? I just started flowering a plant that had been veging for 3 months and doesn't look like its gonna yeild anymore than the ones that were a foot tall when i started flowering. I ended up cuting the bottom half of the branches off cause they weren't getting any light. Now it looks like a giant mushrooms with little buds sticking out of the cap. Its definitly not my best plant.

No worry, the plant will tell you when she's ready.:jointsmile:
Immature li'l chilluns are usually quite symmetrical.
That is, they grow in an "adenate pattern".

When they are ready to flower, they start growin in the "alternate pattern".
Nodes will stop branchin' 2 or even 4 limbs per node and begin to send only one per node, from alternate sides of the stalk.
That's about when you should start seein' pre-flowers as well.

After they go alternate, let them get about half as tall as you want the adults to be at the finish.

Sweet thanks to all u dudes. But I have another question for you. You stated that I should clip all the bottom leaves off because light not getting to them and I have considered that myself. I have a pic here of my light setup this is when my plants were smaller but do think I should still cut them or are they getting enough light the way they are

the better chances the plant has to reach it's genetic potential... it will be
stronger, healthier, which will give it a better chance to produce healthier,
bestist buds ! .... generally when looking up a seed they give the flowering
in weeks...so you know when to expect HARVEST.... but for vegging,
let them veg as long as you can wait !

Kool thanks zeffer. That's what I always assume. Its kinda like wine it only gets better with age in the veg stage. But like one of the other guys in my thread had said and I think he's right to that they wont produce a higher yeild but itll jus be better and healthier.

Most strains will reach there genetic potential with very little veg time. Some people skip vegging altogether. The only thing you really wanna accomplish by vegging your plants is to strengthen the stalks to that they can withstand the weight of the mature buds. Unless you're trying to grow a 6ft tall plant for novelty purpose, there is no economic benifit to vegging a plant til it is taller than 12-18 inches....unless you're growing bug bud, lights of jah, or another high yeild strain. Then you gotta make sure the stems are nice and strong before you bud. If you're growing high yeild strains....let it veg longer, but continuously trim the top so that it is still about 12" when you flower it. As far as trimming the bottom branches goes....trim as much as you feel like. If it is too low to get optimal light, you might as well clip it and clone it. Every branch you get rid of frees up more nutrients that the rest can absorb. So if a branch isn't gonna produce a fat bud anyways, there's really no sense leaving it to just waste nutrients. If you don't have a lot of room, you can trim it to look like a mushroom and all the nutrients will go straight to the top giving you a few giant buds. How you trim it is up to you...just make sure you get rid of anything that is blocked from light....branches like that waste nutrients and produce pebble sized buds. If you're still not sure what to trim, you can always flower it for a couple weeks to see what buds look like they aren't getting enough light.

Thanx jimiblings I will def take all that info and start flowering in about a week. I would probly start tnite but I jus clip 5 nodes from the soil up yestarday so I hv to let them heal. I'm only using bag seed which I know isn't the best idea but it was some dank buds so I decided I might as well use them since I'm jus learning. I def don't want 6 ft tall plants even tho I have plenty of space but like u said there is no point

You can get great yields with long veg plants if you have good side lighting.

The best way ive seen is vertical HID lighting. Produces fat buds all the way down the branches.

It all really comes down to your grow area and equipment right? If you have the space and gear to properly light a 2 month monster then why not? If your area is small then obviously flower small.

It depends on your objectives. Shorter veg = quicker to flower = more runs per year = greater total yield per year. If you can throw a veg tent into the mix then you can increase harvests per year even further.

There are many different practices out there as to how to complete the plant cycle from start to finish. Here is my "basic" plant cycle for your entertainment.

1st Sunday: Cut clones from veg plants using the healthiest lower branches.
2nd Sunday: Harvest Bud Room / Move veg plants over to bud room.
3rd Sunday: Take rooted clones and plant them in preferred containers.
4th thru 7th Sundays: General maintenance and lots of TLC.
8th Sunday: Start cycle over. (See 1st Sunday)

This is as non-detailed as possible to save any confusion. There are many different factors that can change the time line, but this is just a general example of what I do for my plant cycles. I'm quite happy with the results of this practice, but that's what works for me. If anyone else would like to share their method for their plant cycles, that would be great!

Maybe turn it horizontally until the plants are tall enough to make use of the entire length of the tube. A few more fluoros and cfl's (2700K color) for flowering won't hurt either. :twocents:

Ya but I prefer to grow bigger and have time in between. I dont like being bound to my grow and having to do all the work ALL the time.

Happy growing :jointsmile: ditto that ...you need a lot more light to flower .if you are going to keep using flours look into the" screen of green "[scrog]style of growing to harvest good buds.
