Hey all!

I have been working on a MMORPG. I call it Asended. It is in the very beginnings of being made. Right now there are 3 zones, that are populated with various creatures. There is a long way to go.

To make it more realistic, there will be a feature that enables you to grow hemp and make items with it. Items like potions and armor. There will be a lot more crafting that can be done too. You will be able to craft weapons and food, along with a veriety of other items.

With your crafted weapons and armor, you will be able to fight fearce creatures alone, or in a group. You will be able to adventure in far off and exotic lands. Claim loot from your vanquished foe. Go on quests and find rare and powerful "Named" creatures. Kill them for a chance of getting even rarier special weapons, armor and other items.

Here is a few screen shots.

Interesting, are you working with someone, or are you adept at 3d rendering and coding?

That is WAY COOL Pepurr!

I wouldn't have the slightest idea on how to craft such a thing....great on ya!

You should add some New Mexico flair to the game as well....that would be cool to see. Toss in a random zia symbol in hard to find places!

Cheers,

Sandia :)

Glad you guys like it.

I am using a game engine called Realm Crafter to make this game. This engine is in the beta stage, but is stable enough to work with. You can find it here: http://www.realmcrafter.com/ (http://www.realmcrafter.com/)

The program I use to make 3D models is trueSpace7.6 http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/brochure/intro.asp (http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/brochure/intro.asp)

I put some pics of the programs.

As far as progress goes on Ascended goes:
1. Coded attack script to recognize if an equipped item has bonus stats, and considers them in the battle damage formula.
2. Player health now restores to 100% as time passes.
3. Added Dagger salesman and Bow salesman to Alphold zone.
4. Added quest Kill Wolfs and NPC who gives quest.
5. Added level up graphics. Now when player levels up emitters activate graphics in game (Looks cool).

Haven't added any more zones to the game yet. Wanted to get the attack script working first. I am going to add some more quests to this first set of zones too.

In the future, when this game has been developed enough to be fun, I will endeavor to get a server set up. Then you all will be able to set up an account (free) and play. Servers costs money, and I have little of that. If anyone would want to help with this, I'm open. If people pitched in, we could all have a private MMORPG for pot heads.:rastasmoke:

If anyone wanted to help with the development, I'm open to that too.

Hey guys, time for a game update.

Haven't made any new zones so no new pics today. However, I will tell you of other developments.

1. Added type damage and resistances. That means some weapons will have elemental damage and creatures will have elemental resistances. Say a weapon has added earth damage. If a creature is weak to earth, the weapon will damage them more. If they have strong resistance to earth damage the damage will be less or could even heal them. So it would be unwise to cast something like an ice spell on a creature with high ice resistance, but a fire spell would be a very good choice.
This is the hierarchy:

Wind > Earth > Electricity > Wind
Fire > Ice > Water > Fire

2. Added item and gold loot drops from killed mob.

3. Added a Enlightenment attribute to players. This a hidden attribute. This attribute must be raised in order to get higher level quests. Also, to become an ascended being you will have to raise this attribute to a very high level. You can raise your Enlightenment by doing quests. Beware! There will be quests that if successfully completed can lower this attribute.

The only way you will have any idea of how high your Enlightenment attribute is, is by if you are allowed by the game NPC's to do a given quest.

4. Added feature; right click epuipped weapon or armor to get an onscreen item status pop up box. This pop up gives details such as damage, any bonus stats like +Dexterity, item wear and item trade in value.

That's all for now. I'll keep you posted with the latest developments. :hippy:

@BlueBlazer; There will be different classes and races for the player to choose from. Here are the races planned for so far:

Human
Elf
Dwarf

Here are the classes:

Warrior
Mage
Cleric
Archer
Thief

Each class and race will have advantages and disadvantages. Like a warrior will have a high rating against physical damage, but a low defense against magic damage. Also a warrior's physical attack will be much stronger than a mage. On the other hand, a mage will have a high defense against magic attack, but low defense against physical attack damage.

@GetThisOrDie; Sorry. Having weapons that looked like bongs would not fit in with the over all context of the game. It is planned to have the player able to grow hemp and make items with it.

Wow, this is amazing! It's always nice to see more indie games being created.

How long have you been working on it?
When will it be finished?

Don't know if you know about this or not, but you should check out the tigsource.com (http://tigsource.com) forums and the indiegamer.com (http://indiegamer.com) forums. Lots of great stuff for indies!

Thanks for the offer of help and the encouragement.

Unfortunately I had to stop working on this. My laptop, I was using to work on it, could handle the processing, but the hard drive crashed. A friend loaned me this computer, but it could never handle the programs necessary to produce the game.

Seeing how I can't afford to fix my computer, the game is on hold. After I get well and back to work, I'll get a better computer, and then get back to work on it.

I'll give you the heads up when that happens.

Thanks guys. :hippy:

Hi, you sir are a brave and honorable man.

I too was recently enlightened, but I would like to keep balance, and so I would like to help you in any way I can.

We should probably chat, because I'm skilled with computers and very creative and I'm a pure hearted person.

If you are willing to teach me and or point me in the right direction of what I need to know to do a certain thing, I'm more than willing to help.

I wish to chat, ASAP.

This is my calling man, I can feel it. I've always wanted to get into game development, but never had any motivation.

Enlightenment, this is my motivation, what I've wanted to do, this is my chance perhaps.

I have so many ideas to share, and experience/advice to share.

Peace, love, wisdom. I may be young, but I am the future.

We have to chat, this whole weed thing is real.. The mind is so powerful, it can draw you to what you desire if you let it.

It is called 'Thread Highjacking'. shengfjs and qing001 are doing just that. They need to be banned from the forum because they are here for nothing but promoting their products.

Everyone knows their behaviour is frowned upon. They know it too, but because they don't care about anyone but them selves, they break convention.

Please delete their posts here and ban them.

@JayKanon: Still to poor to get a better computer, so the project is still on hold.

There are a number of game engines out there. Some cost 100's of thousands of dollars. Others are free or cost very little.

================================================== =======

Try these game engines:

Realmcrafter: $165
This is the one I was using. It is under development. Price is expected to go up after final release.
Realm Crafter (http://realmcrafter.com/store/home.php?cat)=

Microsoft XNA: FREE and other license terms.
Build Xbox Games, PC Games, Windows Phone 7 Apps,
Must install Microsoft Visual C# Express
XNA Developer Center (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/aa937791.aspx)
Microsoft XNA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_XNA)

================================================== ===

You will need something to make your models. Try this free editor, TrueSpace. It is the best free editor out there. In fact, before Microsoft bought them out and made it free, I paid $370 for it.

THANK you so much for your response, I'm looking into them now, and I will practice so that when you do have a computer, you can lead me free of charge.

Having motivation feels great, the first time in my life I could fully commit myself to a project.

I can't do it on my own though, so please don't abandon this. :hippy:
