The only thing keeping cannabis illegal is the silence of people who believe it should be legal. It's time for that silence to end.

Vote yes for the California "Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010

Cannabis is SAFER than alcohol. Every objective study concludes it is far less toxic and far less intoxicating. Alcohol is also physically addictive, cannabis is not.

Alcohol use fuels aggressive behavior and violence, including domestic abuse, sexual assault, fights and vandalism. Cannabis use does not.

Alcohol use increases risky behavior and accidental injuries, cannabis does not.

Cannabis prohibition creates and sustains violent cartels and street gangs. Regulating cannabis will severely shrink the cartels and gangs by wiping out over 60% of their profit.

Legalization will take cannabis out of the hands of criminals and put it in a well-regulated market only available to adults.

Cannabis sales will generate $1.4 billion/yr in taxes, and allow law enforcement to focus on real crime. The fruitless drug war has wasted $1 trillion.

Cannabis is SAFER than alcohol. Allow people to make the rational choice to use the SAFER drug for relaxation and recreation.

Apart from the various studies that conclude the same, when you just think about it, it's hard to conclude that marijuana is any MORE dangerous than alcohol. What's interesting is the social stigma that's attached with marijuana, which is probably more responsible than anything else for it being illegal.

very true! Since we can remember, our govt has been telling us "drugs are bad....cannabis is a drug". Most people simply believe that without giving it much other thought.

Things are going to change in California this year, but I do believe it's mostly out of lack of options! This state is in desperate need of financial help....taxing MJ is going to make a huge difference. It's just kind of sad that it's not because people really see how harshly cannabis users have been treated. I know people who go to happy hour every day after work and put down a few beers and then drive home. I come home from work and smoke a doobie....yet, i'm the criminal. It's a jacked up world we live in...but we can keep hoping for change!
