Have some questions for you experts about growing in hydro (ebb/flow) but having HARD water. I have a good meter and have checked it and my tap water PPM is 345 to 350 range. I have no choice but to use my tap water, here are my questions:
1) What is the best PPM range to start out with ?? (before adding nutes)
2) Whats the best way to lower my PPM on my tap water to that ideal range?
Appreciate any help. :)

Hello. Like you I have really hard water. Its michigan well water and comes out of the tap at around 400-415 ppm. I recently bought 2 filters. One is a charcoal type in-line and the other is a basic in-line particulate filter. With both in use my water comes out at about 200 ppm. When I started my ebb system I ran with around 600 ppm total. Every thing seemed OK.Hope this helps.

Yep based on research today at the office looks like RO water is the way will go. Tested some tonight and its about 15 PPM. Have a source I can buy it from in 50 gallon at a time and haul it in my truck. Figure dropping $300 on RO system not worth it plus tap water in my part of country not cheap.
Thanks for the feedback :)
