Charged with mj poss.

2 other friends and I were charged with MJ possession last weekend, we didn't get arrested but the Officer gave us PTA's to court.

I'm 18/FL/No record.

It was like less than 2grams.

I heard that all I have to do is show up to court and pay a fine?

But I did some research and it says 1 year/1000$ fine..


Can anyone enlighten me on this type of thing.

I didn't actually have the weed on me though it was in the car so should I try getting a Lawyer.

The thing is I don't have money for one, so I'm not really sure what my best bet is.

Even a public defender is better than stepping in front of a judge pro se. And I'm sure you can afford one of those.

I'll look into that.

But I'm most likely not going to get the maxed out charges right.

Well, that depends on a lot of things, including your areas laws, which judge you might end up with, the ADA's willingness to work with your charges, your defenders competency, your general appearance, and even something as stupid as if the coffee was made at the courthouse that morning.

Clean up, cut your hair, wear NICE clothes to ALL court dates, be polite, and you'd be amazed what those 3 things will do for you.



And get a lawyer ASAP. If you can afford a couple grams of weed, you can afford a PD.

You should be okay...as driver/owner of the vehicle, you are responsible for everything in the car even if your buddies are carrying it, but it's still a misdemeanor, so court fees and fines will prolly cost you about 150 bucks.

Ask the judge if he'll "Defer" the case, since you are a first time offender. This will eliminate the offense from your record after you finish a specified amount of time with no other offenses.

Well that is the Weed Mafia's initiation into "making your bones" LOL!

You will prolly get a fine and possibly probation. I was busted in FL in 85 with a small amount and that was my results.
I think it is easier on you these days though. The worst thing was random UA's on probation so I had to abstain for a while. We need to get it legal is the main objective here. Don't do something you won't stand up for!
But at Cheech & Chong's last performance near me and Chong asked everybody to raise their hand who had been busted for MJ and most of the large audience raised ther hand! So you are in good company and use your youth to LEGALIZE IT!
