Israel can't even secure Gaza, and have lost many battles with Hezbollah whom are largely trained and armed by Iran... With Israel attacking the Turkish aid flotilla I can see Turkey pulling out of NATO to align with Iran and with that they gain one of the largest standing armies in the world and one of the largest airforces in the region.

Israel will greatly regret attacking Iran, and it will lead to huge worldwide turmoil and problems... How can you think this is a good thing? Shameful my man.

Turkey is ascendant right now. They know that the EU is never going to admit them so they are naturally turning eastward. This makes great sense for them anyway. They have historical and ethnic ties to the east and it is a poorly served part of the world. They are emerging as a dominant force in central Asia, a trend that will gather strength as they improve relations with Syria, Iran, and Iraq. They are a natural gateway to EU for this region.

By way of clarification, let's not pretend that Iran has "one of the largest standing armies in the world." They have a large army in terms of numbers of people but materially they are second rate power at best. Sure they can defend their boarders and threaten their neighbors but they do not compare to modern army (incidentally they have never attacked a neighbor). We heard that kind of talk when the neo-cons were rushing us into a war of choice in Iraq. And while Iran is a second rate rate power, they will bloody us pretty good if Israel attacks.

While we're on that subject, let's be clear. Any attack by Israel will be an attack by the US. Iran will hit back at Israel and our forces across the region at the same time. They know that we will be forced to protect our poor defenseless ally once they respond to an Israeli attack. So why wait for that to come? They will hit us immediately. Given that Israel will be flying US planes and dropping US made BLU-82 daisy cutters and the even bigger GBU-43/Bs that were rushed to Israel earlier this year, there is little reason for anyone to think that an attack by Israel isn't an attack by the US.

Don't ever forget that everything that Israel does has our (America's) name on it.

Yeah and Israel doesn't let international law get in their way, either. You saw how they slaughtered women and children in Gaza and Lebanon. How they think nothing of dropping 2000 lb bombs in densely populated neighborhoods. Let's get our testosterone on kill some more brown people! Never mind that Iran is signatory to the NPT, that IAEA inspectors are in country, and that Israel has the only proven clandestine nuclear weapons program in the region...

And what will be the result? Who will benefit? Think about the lessons you learned from the attack on the flotilla where the ultimate beneficiary was Hamas, Islandboy. See this thread for more on that discussion. (http://boards.cannabis.com/politics/185628-gaza-aid-flotilla-attacked-10-killed.html) In the short run they will set back the Iranian program, 1 - 3 years. Perhaps more after the US is drawn into the war. We (the US) will pay a large price in both blood and treasure. Iran will withdraw from the NPT and kick out the IAEA inspectors such that there will be no eyes on the ground. The Iranian people, who right now are putting tremendous pressure on the government for change, will rally lose any momentum they have built over the past few years. Iran and other countries in similar position will understand that they must go nuclear to prevent such attacks in the future. So yeah, let's allow Israel to attack. Great idea.

lessons learned from flotilla if I was an Israeli commando........dont board ships with painball guns, board with machine guns.

Iran is weak as fuck and can hardly control their own people....strong army hahahaha....and Israel is afraid of a Turkish/Iran alliance?? For what? They smeared the desert with three bigoted armies at the same time once, and could EASILY do it again..

Perhaps if Hezbollah didnt hide their weapons and bomb making materials in Mosques and daycare centers less of their supposed beloved people wouldnt die? Truth is.....the leaders of those groups dont give two shits about their countrymen.....cause they are religous conservative KOOKS.....psychopaths, and ignorant bigots who DEPEND on their people being poor and destitute to come TO THEM for help.

Maybe Obama can beg for another 50 billion stimulus to give to Hamas? Wouldn't be a real shock anymore. Guys a punchline now.

Saudi Arabia also denies publicly that we base and fly 1000's of our predator drones in Riyadh on attack missions......of course they would deny that publicly. They have their own public to deal with. Duh.

Saudi is yet another place where we screw our long term strategic interests for short term gain. This is one of the most repressive regimes going, dictatorial, corrupt, and fundamentalist. It is universally despised in the region. Our support for the Saudi regime gives us nearly as many negative points in the Middle East as our blind for that other country where religion sits in the driver's seat.

There will come a day when both these religious nuthouse regimes are brought to account. Where will that leave us? Do you ever consider the long term implication of our actions? Or doesn't it matter?
