I've always gone from the theory of 1 ft./100w. I personally use 400w lamps so my distance has always been 4 ft.

hi everyone im using the lumatek ballast that has the super lumens switch and i was wondering if it makes a difference or is just used for older bulbs that arent giving out there best output???

Flip the super lumens switch on. Itll just give you more light, which never hurts.
