I'd like to hear peoples opinions on Obama. He's a poilitian, and it don't like politicians. But it seems as if everyone else loves him. Maybe it's because he represents equality between blacks and whites. I don't know. But I think that idea hinders peoples veiw of him. I think the fact that he's black gives people confidence that things are changing and getting better. It distracts them from the other wrongs. Maybe I'm wrong. That's why I'm posting this. Enlighten me.

Where's the change? Are your lives or standard of living any better? Is our deficit any smaller? How about the unemployment rate; any better? What about the statements of a more transparent government? All I read about is how the press is being limited. Kind of like kicking FOX out of the presidential debates.....should have been a sign to all to what "change" really meant.
Seems to me that if the people in the U.S. were really still on board we'd be seeing quite a different look in the current elections not to mention the growth of the Tea Party.
I stated during the elections that he'd be Jimmy Carter part 2. We're on the verge of double digit unemployment.....just wait till the same happens with inflation and interest rates.
I will say that he did ease up on the fed hassling innocent people about m.j.. Well, that and a few token laws regarding gay rights. I hope nobody includes health-care as part of his accomplishments; most of the people were against it in the end and we still haven't felt the repercussions of this action.
Have a good one!:s4:

A TOTAL FRAUD. Just another tax and spend liberal to the left of national joke Jimmy Carter. Made ANY promise he could make to get elected and now can't follow through on a damn thing. Obama is all hat and no cattle.
Campaigned as someone completely different, got elected, went down the special interest, sellout, big money leftist route and will now lose all his majorities in November.
Who loves him? Dudes popularity has fallen faster than any president in HISTORY including the much hated Bush. Atleast Bush had balls and did what he said even if we hated it. Obama leads like a wife.....tells ya he's gonna do one thing and does the exact opposite.;)

A lot of the people I talk to who love him are ignorants who don't follow up on current events. He really hasn't done nearly enough to deserve the credit he's getting. I mean... a nobel prize? Really?
No one liked Bush because he wasn't sneaky and got caught with half the shit he did. I think Obama will eventually get there though.
The media portrays him to be amazing and people eat that shit up. He talks out his ass just like any politician. And if he's the president of America obviously he's not going to be worth a shit anyway. Times abviously aren't what they used to be, and even people who are more worthy of being president won't be.

Personally, I think Obama is great. Anyone that thinks he is a messiah is dumb, as are those that blindly hate him because of his liberal values and actions, yet ignore his repeated attempts to reach out to the other side.
He is a politician, so he is bound to be imperfect, it is a given, and I think everyone knows this. But saying he is a total fraud is crap. I'm sorry, but Obama has done a lot of good for this country. He kept us out of another Great Depression (you can't rebuild a shattered economy in a few months, or heck, even a year or two, it takes time, and things are getting better, so stop demanding a quick fix to an insanely complex and huge problem), and set us up for universal health care.
Thats right, someone that appreciates being able to buy affordable health care despite pre existing conditions. And what's this? in a few years we will see millions of lives saved because of health care being available to those that need it... the poor and sick. Yes, those are all good things. There are some bad aspects to it, but i cant think of too many "Perfect Bills" out there, and it has a bunch of good in it.
I say give the man a break, and give him time. Rome wasn't built in a day, and America won't be rebuilt in one. Am I the only one that understands that?
I didn't vote for him, I voted for the other crooks on the ballot but I think he's alright. He has stuck to his word so far about honoring the constitution and not trying to trump the will of MMJ states. that makes exponentially better than the two Presidents before him. :twocents: I am just about the opposite of him politically, I am am a conservative libertarian and he seems to be another in a long line of statists, but other than that he's alright.

Obama has lied about every promise he made on his campaign. Don't believe his pretty smile and beautiful speech craft.
1) Bring an end to the wars, he's expanded them.
2) No patriot act, he resigned it without edits just like Bush.
3) No Lobbyists in his admin, fills every position with lobbyists from Goldman Sachs, defense contractors and more.
4) Banker takeover bill, Obama has pushed and passed giving $28 billion according to Bloomberg to the banks of U.S. taxpayer dollars! staggering!
5) Spending us into oblivion with debt.
6) Naked body scanners in airports break all U.S. and U.K. child porn laws!
7) Heading the U.N. Security council, completely illegal!
8) Attending Copenhagen in an attempt to sign over U.S. sovereignty to the IMF and World Bank.
9) Copenhagen fails so Obama uses EPA to declare Co2 a toxic pollutant to further carbox tax agenda!!! Yes the stuff you exhale and plants breath is a toxic pollutant, lol!~
10) Continuing renditions!!(secret arrest and torture for those who don't know.)
11) Defending and continuing Bush's torture policy.
12) Says he won't use unconstitutional signing statements on bills then uses them.
13) Continuing and using for political gain the official 9/11 lie.

maybe I'm just jaded but I have come to expect lies and corruption from all pols. maybe if he starts banging his interns while his "justice" dept burns babies alive, then I'll have the same hate for him that I do for other presidents, but I'm just not feeling it yet.

Just out of curiosity... any vote for Ron Paul? Or even look into him? He is pretty much my polar political opposite except on his super strong stance about what the USC allows the Fed to do.

I see the mods had the good sense to censor some of the moronic dribble that passes for commentary in this thread. It could have landed us all in a lot of heat. Unfortunately they had to pull mine as well, as I quoted that stupidity... Just glad it's gone.

In case anyone needed reminding, a guy is on currently trial for threatening Rep. Bart Stupak over his role in Healthcare reform. I still don't understand why abortion nutjobs insist a presidential decree banning public funding of abortion isnt good enough, but apparently it is enough to threaten lives over, and a guy is now facing jail for a letter he wrote. Whatever our differences, when we resort to violence in politics, we have given up on our system of government. I thought Americans liked democracy...

I didn't vote for Obama but I was hoping he would do 2 things.
1: Repair race relations in our own country.
He has done absolutely nothing in that regards.
2: Repair foreign relations with some of the muslim nations.
Hasn't helped there either.
Everything else he's done is just normal politics. Wouldn't matter who was president most verything thats going on would be happening anyway no matter who was president.

I can agree with you on item 1 although the act of electing Obama itself did a great deal for race relations in our country.
As for item 2, that is just not true. He has done a great deal to repair our standing internationally including with Muslim nations. I'd say the jury is still out in that regard. He could easily flush all of the goodwill engendered to date.

Hope and Change? I didnt really expect big things, Obamas long record showed him to be a very centerist to right democrat. I dont think anyone who actually took the time to research it expected a 'racidal leftist' that the media all warned us against.
A Nobel Prize? What, he just appeared in 2009? he didnt do anything else before he ran for president? Forget that he's a Foreign infiltrator, hes a pod person from outer-space! Read why they gave him the nobel prize and its entirely consistent with why they give them out in the first place.
The media portrays Obama favorably? What TV channel you watching cause Im not seeing much of this.
Has Obama repaired race relations in this country? What did you want, a hand to wipe away all the years of hard feelings? And I mean thousands of years. But its helped a lot and you see this everyday. It may seem there are more racists about, but they've always been here and i think its a good thing when the cockroaches infesting our country are forced out into the light.
Has Obama 'fixed' the economy? For 8 years we have an economy in freefall, runaway spending and the 'Bush' tax cuts seeing more of our taxes paid by those who can least afford it, and the least being paid by those who can than EVER IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! Its gonna be 'fixed' in 100 days? 500 days? Everyone said this was going to take 5-10 years to come out of, including the republicans who said there was no recession in the first place.
The mortgage/banking industry is derequlated and it implodes, the oil industry is deregulated and it explodes. How much more evidence do you need? Do you need to be hit in the head with a freakin rock? If eliminating all corporate laws will make things safer and better will eliminating all criminal laws do the same for our streets?
If 'The Free Market' handles things better than the Gov'mint than why are THEY now saying that Obama isnt doing enough about the oil spill? Republican Teabaggers who six months ago were saying Gov'mint needs to stay out of their lives are now begging for this Kenyan born Muslim terrorists help on national TV. What, they expect Obama to put on a wetsuit, go down there and pinch that well off? Why hasnt god? These whack job christians who live down there have all been praying to him to do it, but you want Obama to? (no offense meant to any southerners, Id be saying the same no matter where it was) He shouldnt criticize BP while they need to focus on the clean up but lets criticize him while he needs to focus on... oh nm.
Im not too old, 40's ish, but in my politically aware lifetime republicans administrations have always crashed our economy while democratic administrations have always brought it back. I was a republican back then, until reagan killed small business in this country.
If you go back and read about the 1830's when the two parties were founded you will find that one guy guy founded the democratic party while one other guy, his longtime political rival founded the republican party soley in opposition to the democratic party. Today it seems thats all the republican party is, it just says no. To everything. And has for 30 years. Did they do anything in the last 10 years about the economy, foreign affairs, oil production or safety?
Obama so far on a 1 to 10, a solid 8. The fact that we havent had a 911 under Obama should push it to a 9 in most right wingers minds.
At least i dont have to be embarassed by his poor grasp of the english language anymore when I hear my president speak on TV.
by the way, that would have been a 6-5 rating if it hadnt been for our last president.
The dream ticket for 2012 is Sarah Palin and Rand Paul! give it to the dems for 4 more!

I agree 100%. Where were these ultra high expectations people seem to have for our president 5 or 6 years ago, back when our country got gutted by a republican leader? It takes a good solid 8 years of work to crash our economy, ruin our good name, resort, and put our constitutional rights into the papershredder (yes, republicans took away many of your rights, and they are the party that will fight tooth and claw for the 2nd, while ignoring all the other ammendments), our country cannot be rebuilt overnight. Seriously, how long did it take to get out of the Great Depression? 10 years? So for the Great Recession we decide magicly cut that down to 1? maybe 2? wtf.
Lets be realistic, in both our expectations, and our timetables.

Couldn't have said it better. WTF is right. And why the willful ignorance concerning how we got to this situation? You can damn well be sure that if a Democractic president had performed as GWBush we would never have heard the end of it. I'm not pleased with the way Obama has continued to trample civil liberties or that he has failed to live up to his promises in many areas, but I much more comfortable with the trajectory we're on now as opposed to 2 years ago.
my biggest complaint about Obama is all the war casulties on his watch. This is never acceptable to me. :twocents:
