View Full Version : how big a mistake did I make?

On a whim last night, I ordered pot seeds on the internet last night. I paid with my personal CC and had the seeds sent to my house. I ordered from a longstanding reputable site. The pot laws in my state say a first offense for less than a 1/2 oz. is a misdemeanor.
I know it's a little early to get paranoid. One of the reasons I QUIT smoking in the 70s was that I'm the paranoic type. Just tell me if I should cancel my CC. Or move out of my house or something

Relief. If there's a next time, I'll use a pre-paid CC. Thanks for responding.

i got that letter....its only a notification that your shipment has been confiscated and make you freak out....your seeds are more work to chase than the paperwork is worth......if you are worth their time(FEDS)they won't waste time with a preform letter you'll have a knock on the door!! So chill and try not to be paranoid

Ive ordered many times with a CC. No big deal. You should be fine... And if you ordered from a place with gauranteed shipping, you will get it reshipped for free if they take your package.

I ordered 10 seeds, so I guess I'm not worth the FEDs time. Good to know all this because a letter like that *would* have cost me a new pair of pants and a lawyer fee to check it out.
It sounds to me like growing for personal use is no biggie. Not like in the old days when people went to jail if the cops found a seed stuck in your upholstery.

No its pretty much still like that depending where you live. State police and local police DO have the time and literally enjoy busting people like you and me. Just because the feds wont waste money to come after you doesnt mean youre safe. Still practice caution and do not tell ANYONE what you are doing.
I know someone who they tossed in jail because his lighter had some "residue" on it. Ridiculous....

Aside from posting my intent to grow on an international internet board, I've been pretty discreet.
According to NORML, the worst thing that can happen in my state for a first offense of under a half ounce is a suspended sentence. It actually said it was mandatory for the judge to suspend it.

I bought seeds a few months ago on the internet, and this is how you should do it;
Get a Visa gift card ( whatever amount you decide)at your local grocery outlet. Register it online with a fictitious name. Place your online order, and wait for your package.
IF it gets intercepted, then you simply tell the authorities you don't know what they are smoking...but that's not your name and nobody lives there by that name. At least that's how I do it.

Very naughty! I'm strategic like that. There are downsides to it though, but it's all part of the risk.:smokin:

Yeah, but couldn't the transaction could be traced to you IP address?

Very smart there is always potato chip crumbs leading to the bag of chips... Just don't be blatantly stupid and always use every way possible to thwart the authorities...
Like mentioned above some cops just live for this stuff and your nemesis could be lurking around the corner...

If your seeds get intercepted, you will get a notice that a package was intercepted on it's way to you etc...nothing more..
The Feds have bigger fish to fry, but go with what Nancy suggested to keep yourself extra safe next time you order

Internet cafes where they let you pay cash by the hour are great places to use to register that gift card she talked about. And then, if you've received any mail to your house that had a previous occupant's name on it, you can use that name for plausible deniability. Or some other ficticious name that you know to watch for.
If possible, use a receiving address other than your grow, for one more layer of security. A trusted friend, if you have one, a cash-prepaid MaiLb0x-R-uS thingy somewhere if you don't.
And then follow the sage advice of Jorge Cervantes: Don't tell ANYONE. Harder than you think, I assure you. ;)

I ordered impetuously using what was at hand. My computer. My CC. Stupid, but effective. My seeds came...and so cleverly concealed that I nearly threw them out. I didn't believe anything would come and couldn't believe it was that easy.
Once these are grown and gone, I'll order again using your suggestions. I'm near several of those internet coffee houses where they have a public wi-fi connection. I think those coffee houses would be as safe to order from as Kinko's. It is certainly more convenient.
Thanks for not laughing at me here, people. I have not had so much as a parking ticket in years, and I enjoy having a spotless record. That doesn't mean I don't like to have a little harmless fun!

I'm far too paranoid to talk. I have a co-worker who talks about the planting season and what stage his sprouts are in all the time. Like it's ordinary horticulture.
I have a reputation for being straight as an arrow, yet he doesn't clam up when I'm around. Weird. Sometimes I wonder if pot really does make a person stupid.
I just listen. He often talks about the technical aspects of growing and hiding your plants. :detective1:
